A Pratt says:

@ramblinaround nice video! It really have help me with some insight on how to do ball joints on my 97 cougar

91myroc says:

I had a 93 XR7 for my first car my balljoint broke on me after leaving school one day. I wanted the car fixed but I was told that these MN12 platform cars arn’t worth fixing so it went to the junkyard

RamblinAround says:

Yeah, it still runs too good to get rid of it. It also shares a lot of parts with our Grand Marquis.

capricetony says:

Got to agree glad to see you are keeping it, the old MN12 89-97 Cougar/Thunderbird were good cars. Great channel and cars ! Anthony

RamblinAround says:

We’ll have it going again soon. I’m sure it still has a lot of miles left in it.

FatGuyWithAKatana says:

i was wondering when we would get an update. letting a car that cool go to the junkyard would land you a place in car hell for real. can’t wait to see it live again.

Jos the Rebel says:

Wel i belive you on your word buddy !! LOL.

Good luck on the repairs eh….

RamblinAround says:

It won’t take too much to get it back on the road. Then we’ll have to see if we can fix up the fender a bit. Thanks for watching my friend.

Firemind94 says:

Good project car.:)

RamblinAround says:

No, it’s overhead cam, but it’s still only a 16 valves.

GohModley says:

Is that 4.6 a 24 valve engine?

RamblinAround says:

Thanks for watching!

RamblinAround says:

yeah, I’d at least take a look and see what condition the rubber boots are in. They usually will make some clicking and popping noises before they break though. I just ignored the warnings and kept driving too long, like an idiot.

RamblinAround says:

LOL…that has been known to happen. Thanks for watching!

RamblinAround says:

Yeah, I guess I’m literally a shade tree mechanic this time. Thanks for watching!

RamblinAround says:

Oh yeah, there were warning signs, but I can be extremely lazy at times…lol.

RamblinAround says:

Yeah, no matter how close I get it, it’ll still be a little out of alignment when it’s done.

RamblinAround says:

Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

RamblinAround says:

Yeah, that engine still has a lot of life left. Thanks for watching!

RamblinAround says:

I’m sure it she still has quite a bit of life left in her. Glad the vice grips tip helped…it’s no fun having a hood smash you in the head when you’re working.

RamblinAround says:

It’s a 4.6 L Overhead Cam V8…they are really good engines in my opinion.

RamblinAround says:

Yep, they are almost the same car…pretty much identical underneath.

patrick stujenske says:

i love the car it all most looks smiler to my 1995 ford Thunderbird lx v8

paradoxdesigns says:

good trick with the vice grips! i’m always using broom handles and boards and stuff that just get in the way when i’m working on cars with screwed up struts. I totally remember when that thing skidded ya almost off the road, too.. that was AWHILE ago! haha.

no point in scrapping that thing at all. she runs better than any of my cars ;D

Jake Da Snake Productions says:

Yeah, I would fix it, those 4.6’es are bullet proof engines & that’s a nice car.. my 98 Mustang GT has well over 180k on it & it’s just as alive as ever!

Jim Bales says:

I sincerely enjoy your videos. Thanks for the entertainment. 🙂

Jos the Rebel says:

Really nice job Jeff ! What kind off engine is in there ?

talfacprez says:

VERY smart to just do all the front end parts on that side. If the ball joints were bad, that means the other front end parts were taking the extra strain for who know how long until it snapped. My buddy said….”DON’T forget to have your car realigned after you get it back together. (He runs an alignment shop)

MRSROCKINROBIN says:

There was no warning signs of the ball joint going bad??? They usually make a squeaking noise, or vibration in the wheel or something…. Glad to see you getting it fixed…

8087j says:

Let me guess. The wife nagged you to the point that you HAD to fix it.
Good work!

Buckswoodshop says:

A real shade tree mechanic. Thanks for the video.

HoschtonBoy says:

I guess it’s time to look into the same problems my 1996 Lincoln might have given it has close to the same milage.

RamblinAround says:

It definitely saves a lot of money doing things yourself. Thanks for watching Alberto.

RamblinAround says:

I plan to replace all the rubber up front…might as well do it while I have it apart. Thanks for watching!

Howard1939 says:

I’d replace all the rubber bushings on the front end while the car is out of service, given the age, rubber does deteriorate & best be to be “SAFE” than sorry..

Sure hope FORD has made the ball joints heavier duty than what was in my 70 Torino GT coupe, as the ball joints in that car failed twice in 2 years, as they were originally designed in 1960 for the Ford Falcon & were used for all Ford cars with exception of Lincoln Town car through the mid 70’s..

RamblinAround says:

Thanks for watching!

RamblinAround says:

Yeah, I don’t like having cars laying around that aren’t running. Thanks for watching Darrin.

Santiago Figueroa says:

Nice car

vwdarrin says:

one more down , its good to have all the cars running ,thanks for the video

RamblinAround says:

Yeah, it definitely has been a while.

alberto gorin says:

what a money you save if you can do it your self !!!!!!.here at opel dealership
so give it and time to pay and part cost this tax parts bolts hours we work on it
i can t do this.

TheCynicalSquiddly says:

I’ve been putting it off because I don’t have the time right now to take care of it. The previous owner replaced the control arms but for some stupid reason didn’t do anything with the joints and they’ve been squeaking since I bought it.
