Well i own a 99 c230 kompressor with 147,000 miles running strong !!!! i
feel like my car hits bumps and potholes too hard, like you can feel them
too much as you hit them, also suspension feels a lil loose maybe some
bushing are getting getting old idk !!! what would you suggest me to
change-replace without spending too much money ??? or what would you
replace if it was your car?? thanks

Hi, one problem that drives me crazy because I can’t figure it out. Since
that i’ve done following but it didn’t go away. When turning right I am
getting slight grinding noise. Can’t really say where it’s coming from. New
front end, ball joints, center link with tire rod ends, lower ball joints,
shocks. Rear – outer control arm bushings, shocks, just rebuilt left side
half axle thinking it should take care of it but it didn’t. Both rear
bearings are new as well. Both engine mounts are new – HELP

you’re very welcome 🙂

Thanks so muchh

fupabox says:

good job finding the problem…I wouldn’t have even considered the
insulation being the cause of the noise

That’s great, thanks. Looks a lot like my w124 wagon.

fupabox says:

the first thing to go on most cars that causes poor ride quality is the
shock absorbers..if things like ball joints and tie rods aren’t
clunking, the shocks can make a big difference…front lower control arms
are notorious for bad bushings, but other than that ,suspension wise most
parts last a long time

Thank you for the videos! Very helpful!

Mike Lincoln says:

New breaks and pads all around. I didn’t change transmission mount because
aftermarket part I’ve got looks softer the original that’s been there since
1997! I put the original mount back in place! When driven straight there is
no noise! When turning at low speeds 15-30miles per hour makes noise….

Mike Lincoln says:

Finally found where the problem is. There is a fabric insulation in the
transmission tunnel that is sagging right in the middle and basically
laying on the front flex desk. Even though engine mounts are new apparently
engine has some play along with transmission when I turn right. So I’ve
ripped part of that insulation and problem is gone. I also found out that
my drive shaft center support bearing rubber mount is gone on the left
side. Can be moved to the left with one finger. Gotta love it…

fupabox says:

have you checked the front wheel bearings ? engine mounts are also a
possibility…when they collapse the engine can shift around as you
transfer weight while turning..is it possible the grinding is a vibration
from the engine contacting something when you turn ?

Mike Lincoln says:

I was thinking to rebuild right side half axle but not sure yet. Car has
178k miles on it.
