after you drain out the old coolant..refill with plain water and run it again till engine is normal operating temp (keep heater on high at all times while changing and flushing) then open drain and keep adding more water/flushing while the engine is running..do this for a few minutes then turn off engine and drain completely..final refill 50/50 coolant and distilled water..correct 51/2 litres/quarts coolant and the rest distilled water..
Thx a lot for the video, i will try to flush it, but i am still confuse about the 50/50 or the water, mine is 1999 c280, can i just use all coolant? or do I have to mix with distilled water? it says that i need 10 L/10.6 US Quarts Coolant, so I need like 5 L/5.3 US Quarts Coolant and the rest is distilled water? and to flush it, is the engine running or not?

check if the BOTH cooing fans are spinning by having the AC on THEY SHOULD BE SPINNING or the fuse is Blown like happened to me & use MBenz Coolant!

when the car is warm and running take off the cap on the overflow bottle and squeeze the upper and lower rad hoses a few times to help push the air out…make sure your heater is on high heat because air gets trapped in the heater core sometimes..
Yeah my car was hitting 120 and were I live the only way I’m going to get the antifreeze is if I go online autozone don’t even carry it they only have the cheap one but I got most of the air out hoping tomorrow I can get the rest out
yes ..air in the coolant can cause overheating
What if it over heats can it be the air inside ?
that’s within the range Mercedes considers allowable..but nearer to the high end of that range..the thermostat may not be opening fully..I am doing my thermostat next week..not a tough job..I’ll record it

I have a w202 1998 and i live in Montreal .
When i drive my temperature goes to 83 celcius and when i am in traffic it goes to 97 celcius……

keep flushing till it comes out clear..if you get a bit more than a gallon out of just the radiator valve that’s about normal..depends on whether the car got hot enough to open the thermostat as well..if the thermostat is closed it won’t let all the coolant drain out
I thought that when you open the radiator red valve at least 60% should have come out but I only get about 40%. then How do i know how much coolant or water is left in the engine and heater core if I keep refiling?
A lot will remain in the engine and heater core..that’s why you need to keep filling with tap water running till warm and draining again till it’s all flushed out..if you don’t warm it up each time the thermostat won’t open and you’ll have a tough time getting all the old stuff out
how much coolant did you get out of it? I can only get about 4 litters from the radiator red knob?
you run with just water…to flush out the old coolant remaining..it won’t overheat….your upper rad hose you could do it cold so the thermostat is closed and unhook one end of the upper hose and tilt it down into a bucket…you’ll get most out of it but not all
It won’t overheat when you run it without the coolant for 10 minutes? Also, can you check my video? I need to replace my upper radiator hose… trying to avoid changing all of this coolant business haha

I found out that the Benz coolant is my made by Valvoline. It’s called ZEREX G05.. which is the same stuff as MB coolant with the MB label.. it might save you some money, i’m just not sure if they sell it over there in canada. it’s about $13.00 over here. people still seem to use the cheap-o prestone green stuff over here and have water pump bearing problems and wonder why… have a good holiday!

I had a look at what coolant was in my w202 and it was lime green , the brightest green i have ever seen so now with my laptop on the roof of my car i am going to drain and bleed the system . got my mbenz coolant and distilled water . thanks for the vid its going to help me out a lot

I just recently had to replace the head gasket in my w202 April 2000 c200 . because over the years the mechanics i sent the car to used normal tap water and normal coolant . the merc coolant is expensive but $40 for coolant is much better than $680 for a new head gasket set
