Did the new relay solve your problem? I have the same car and the same
issue and I swapped the relay for a new one from the dealer and I am still
having the issue…

BioBioBio BANDMAN says:

I opened the little electrical box you did, and i had no K 40 relay there?
i dont know where else it could be located on mine. It hasnt stalled in
over 2 months and going good at the moment

diesel mercedes says:

It could be K40, it could be ignition switch, or something else….your
situation is dangerous, engine, p/s, vacuum for brakes, etc…shuts off at
speed of 50km, in your case i will give your vehicle to dealer for
diagnosis asap before you will get in accident !! Good luck. Share outcome
with us, please.

MB 1997 e300 non turbo here, i have encountered a problem where my car
randomly stalls and shuts off going at speeds of 50km straight of driving,
10km around a turn, and even when my car is just started and is warming up
it randomly shuts off. In total of 5 times since i bought it last year 2012
June. I have read it might be the K-40 relay that needs to be replaced but
i havent had my car stall for 3 months now and its running fine. what would
you recommend at this point ?

BioBioBio BANDMAN says:

i ordered the k-40 “black switch” i’ll put it and let you know if it solved
that stalling problem, if it does it again then i guess i’ll have to go to
the MB dealer which i have never been to 🙂
