Ok d2r is suppost to have a dark gray patch when it wears it should start turning light blue a small spot in the middle if its really worn it should have a dark blue a d2s should be clear with no spots

Terry Gee says:

Is the S or R the one with the dark pach?. And how do you read the pach for wear? Thanks.

fupabox says:

The bulbs I pulled out were d2r, but most of the d2s are notched to fit both R and S applications..I find the S to be much brighter..but hard to tell since one of the old ones was dying

michael martinez says:

ok got ya thats good it had a guarantee and terry d2s and d2r are the same thing just the higher end bulbs like hella hid or philips hid d2s bulbs havw a little dark pach to indacate how much the bulb has worn 🙂

Terry Gee says:

I had changed mine too. But I think the proper bulb is D2R, not D2s. I’m not sure if it makes any difference. The D2S does not have the black patches on the glass.

fupabox says:

this pair was at a local parts place and he guaranteed them…was tired of the flickering bulb and didn’t want to wait for another week

michael martinez says:

No disrespect but why would you put a pair of 20$ cheap china hid bulbs instead of a pair of philips osram german quality bulbs for about 60$ a pair on ebay and outlast those by sevral years and to be problem free those cheap ones usally go in about a year…why man whyyyyyyy
