Any recommendation on oil weight ? Im looking to do an oil change this
weekend and you are saying 20w 50 / 5w 50 for summer but the Mobile 1
website says 0w 40. I hate to be that guy that questions someone like
yourself, You have helped me with a bunch of issues so far so thank you in
advance. 1999-C230-with 77k miles.

Steves Projects says:

Oil and filter was pretty straight forward on this car except for the sump
plug which was a real bitch to remove due to a worn hex head
A socket extractor removed it with ease but ended up replacing it with a
new 14mm equivalent
As you know the oil filter cap is only plastic so there not kidding when
they say don’t over tighten
I clicked my filter into the plastic oil cap first then pushed it into the
lead of the oil pickup but I guess either way works
FYI the 180C manual does say the oil is 5.5L max only so I think 6L may be
over filling it
Thanks for your good videos :)

Any tips of how to try and release a bolt that’s pretty stuck in there? I
tried to heat it up and brute force (well to the point of where I felt the
spanner my bald the corners).

Cant believe it but napa actually has a Mann in stock, ab to go pick it up!
Using the mob1 0w-40. Seafoam into the vacuum line perfectly; about to post
a video of the aftermath 🙂

J P says:

I have a 2000 C230 Kompressor (base model) and was told my car takes Mobil1
OW-40

Just want to say how much I appreciate your DIY’s fupabox, looking forward
to wathcing this 🙂

Ricardo Anjos says:

I have a W202 C220 Diesel. The engine takes 6.5L oil , but does the filter
take 1L ? Making 7.5L in total ? Like, if you are going to change your oil
and filter at the same time, you need to drop 7.5L oil in the engine ? or
just 6.5 ?

Mikhail Amchei says:

Awesome video man! Be careful with cigs. Oil is flammable lol thanks a lot
man.

fupabox says:

your capacity as stated in the manual is how many litres you put in (minus
around 1 litre for any that may be lingering after you drain it) start the
car and run for 30 seconds to a minute and check the dipstick and see how
much more is needed..running 1 litre low will not damage the engine…1
litre over will cause damage ..so always underfill and use the dipstick to
check how much more isneeded

fupabox says:

that’s good oil…post the vid of the smokeshow 🙂

fupabox says:

Napa brand are fine…as long as it isn’t a Fram…Mann are stock but may
be difficult to find…I order mine from Canadian tire…you can check
“rockauto” they may carry them and ship directly to your door…always try
the dealer as well..they can be surprisingly competitive in price on some
things

fupabox says:

@mrexecutive1 lower ball joints upcoming (just replaced them 6 months and
37thousand km ago..but they are under warranty so they are free..:) )
…rear brakes will need changing soon and possibly transmission
fluid/filter replacement

TheMDHouse007 says:

how necessary is the mann filter? I used one from NAPA last change, it was
a cellulose filter, not paper, not fleece either tho. Suggestions?? If the
Mann filter is that much better and highly recommended where is the
cheapest place to get them? have to get it online right?

fupabox says:

Hmm. never heard any problems with vacuum lines in the way…there’s only
the cartridge canister top and the drain bolt to remove

TheAsiantard says:

Just for anyone who has a c200 or a c230, capacity is 5.5L

TheMDHouse007 says:

the filter i got is prt #: HU 727/1x. is this the right one? 99% sure just
want to be 100 🙂
