sounds like something internal in the antenna..maybe the clutch, but you say it rolls up and down manually..that’s very odd…is there any grinding noises when the motor is trying to lift the antenna ?

Also, I purchased another Antenna from Mercedes for $407 thinking that it would work, but that didn’t work either. So, am I to assume that its a wiring issue?

14567deno says:

I have a 1995 Mercedes S320 & my antenna doesn’t work. So I took the antenna apart and looked at the mast and it’s intact. The small belt connected to the motor is in great shape. When I manually roll the motor (once it was out of the car), the mast goes up and down which means that nothing is stuck. I tested the motor and it works fine too! Then I put the antenna back in the car again & I heard the motor running but it won’t lift the antenna when I turn the radio on. Can you help? Fuses are ok!

vuitton woods says:

I’m going to try but I don’t even hear the motor running

fupabox says:

can you hear the motor running ,trying to pull it down ? it may need to be lubricated and gently helped up and down if it is sticky

vuitton woods says:

What if it doesn’t go down at all

1cityandcolour1 says:

okay, thanks for the reply!

fupabox says:

it’s a w202…most older Mercedes antenna will be the exact same

1cityandcolour1 says:

What model is it? Looks like a W202?
Does this apply to W124?

KeithaEric Slaton says:

LOL, will try the teeth the other way and then tackle the motor. DId watch vid and seems way easy enough! Thanks!

fupabox says:

you may need to take the antenna assembly apart and check for damage to the clutch and or a piece of old antenna stuck in there…I have a video on repairing the antenna motor unit on the w202 playlist…not very complicated at all..it is also possible that if the antenna mast is brand new it is a bit too curved at the very end and won’t feed into the hole at the bottom of the mast tube…also try with the teeth facing both forwards and rearwards..some units gear teeth can face either way

KeithaEric Slaton says:

IDK, where my comment went, but I hear motor work, but when I turn radio off, teeth don’t get grabbed and it does not retract?

fupabox says:

I wish I could help, but I have no experience with the Pajero

Ian Burrell says:

how do you access the motor on a Montero or in Australia Pajero under the guard or inside the cabin?

fupabox says:

Yes ..should be the same as long as it still has the factory power antenna

SIRHENNY1 says:

is it the same process for the 1984 model?

fupabox says:

unfortunately you need to remove the antenna to get the rubber grommet out..1 8mm bolt and a 10mm nut,,.then pull the whole unit downwards

pcmaster2001 says:

cheers for the quick reply, so do i have to remove the whole thing from the inside to remove the outer grommet? the nut on the antenna snapped, is there a quicker way to get it out?

fupabox says:

there are 2 ..one inside held in by the antenna…antenna is easy 2 bolts and a few electrical plugs

pcmaster2001 says:

hi, how do i get the rubber grommet to come off?

fupabox says:

The dealer may be able to get them, but I always go to my local wrecking yard (I’m lucky since it is the largest in my province that allows you to go in and pick parts yourself) and they always have a ton of W202s in the yard…prob 20 the last time I was there..if you get a new antenna mast ($10 at rockauto.com)it should have the rubber tip on the mast built in

fleetfighter says:

Where can one get the rubber piece that pushes against the inner fender wall and the rubber cap that goes over the outside of the antenna?

Thanks again.

fupabox says:

thanks…glad it helped :)

atroposBE says:

Excellent instructions. Followed this vid to replace the antenna mast on my 230TE W124. A lot easier with two people 🙂

MJGWASHERE says:

I had c280 great cars thanks for the upload i have to do this to a bmw e30 tomorrow morning lol

fupabox says:

the nut may be stripped from overtightening at some point…under the inner trunk panel there are 3 bolts to remove the antenna motor…it’s fairly simple..you could remove them and pull down on the antenna motor and assembly while loosening the top mast nut to help coax it out..it isn’t supposed to be much more than finger tight..it also won’t come off with the antenna retracted,so make sure the antenna is up when you try to remove the nut

P1relliz says:

Hey man, I tried removing this. I nut just keeps turning, It’s not coming off. Any ideas?
