Hey FUPABOX – Thank you soooooo much, you have saved me a small fortune for I took the car (1994 – C220 Sport W202) to a garage and was quoted £573 to replace the MAF sensor, only to find that the one on the car is a BOSCHE part and looks brand new. I removed it (thanks to you) with ease and used some WD40 electrical component cleaner spray and gave it a decent blast, even though it looked clean and new. 30 minute job, saved a fortune and car runs like its brand new, with more power! Thanks Bud

I’d be waiting a long time for 15 degrees 🙂 snowed here 2 days ago 🙁 where’s my global warming, I demand my share 🙂

Thanks a very useful video.6 second job in sub-zero, I’m impressed, in Hertfordshire I don’t do anything with the car unless above 15C ;).

it doesn’t sound like the throttle body is bad although it could be…check the OVP relay ..it is up under the windshield on the passenger (right ) side just behind the shock tower..there is a relay with a little plastic clear cover with a fuse under the cover..among other things the OVP controls idle speed to keep battery charge voltage constant..these relays can degrade over time.check the fuse in it as well..another possibility is camshaft position sensor.

hi i cleaned the throttle body this weekend and still having the same issue with the car dying on me while idling but only when the temperature is above 80 so normal running condition do you have any ideas what this could be do you think i need to replace the throttle body ?

thanks

fupabox says:

check for leaks or cracks in the intake between the air filter and the throttle body..the throttle body may also need a cleaning

Bernd Engling says:

Hi fupabox its me again replaced the mass air flow sensor it running like a dream now if got another issue since I have replaced it when the car idels it dies on me after 2-3 seconds but if it idels above 1000rpm its fine any ideas

fupabox says:

radiator temp. sensor and MAF sensor, or both

Bernd Engling says:

hi fupabox, small question it seems to be you know alot about the w202 i am in namibia i am having this issue for the the last 10000km and i dont know what it could be in the morning when i start the car idels very weird it goes up and then down and up until i reach about 40 degrees celsious then it idels steady then when i rev it when it is warm to about 4000 then it goes between 4000 and 3500 and then up again the whole time what do you think this could be?
thanks

LOL…I grew up in the Mohave desert…took a long time to get used to the cold…still prefer summer 🙂

CraigMammalton says:

Whoa, were you working without a jacket while it was -5 degrees? They make you Canadians more cold resistant than us Californians.

fupabox says:

yes with a round electrical connector…I think they use the same body but just a different sensor/connector that screws into the side

Endrit V says:

On 1994 model MAF is different, its smaller and it is pluged on the air collector body.
