Richard, this is a fantastic video with complete information about how to solve an issue my friend has with his SL. Your details are well explained and to the point. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I think it will be useful for years to come.

Does this valve also increase the rpm during cold starts being controlled by ICU? The rpm are steady and nice at 600rpm cold or hot.If i unplug the valve rpm jump to 1200,when i plug it back rpm dropping back to 600.Also checked the diodes inside the icu and they seem ok.Im experiencing a bit of hard rich cold starts without high rpm until engine warms up

How do you idle it up if the idle is too low and stalling

anthony jarowa says:

hi….watched your videos repeatedly…excellent…but i have a 380se….high idle …my rear coolant sender is single pin…..sender is fine…but cant establish if actually getting power at connector…..done virtually everything else…..and will probably replace seals on upper manifold as a last effort……cold start 1500….warm reduces but idles rough….but runs well with revs…thank you

Good afternoon Richard. I saw in video part II that you opened the idle valve. I tried and It´s hard as a … and I gave up. Is there any way to open it without breaking it. Thanks.

A GREAT PRESENTATION. I HOPE TO BE ABLE TO SOLVE MY IDLE PROBLEM WITH YOUR ADVICES.

I wish you'd done this before my trip through High Idle Hell with my 1987 560SL back in 2012. I suspect a descendent of Rube Goldberg was the engineer who designed the Bosch KE Jetronic fuel injection system. That and the goofy vacuum line central door lock system. Didn't they have electric solenoids in Germany in the 80s?

Could be worse, my old 68 VW Beetle had the windshield wiper fluid system powered by the air pressure from the spare tire!

I can’t find the other parts of your videos

Klove says:

Hey Richard I have a 1990 500SL and it only revs in park and neutral and I just bought a brand new idle control do you think it is a vacuum leak..?

Jorgen U says:

Richard, this beats everything I've seen on the internet so far – thanks!
My '85 380SL high idles when warm, but only on very hot summer days….. Does this narrow down the possible causes?
