Do you need to reprogram once the knob is replaced?

paul davison says:

No need to remove the gear knob and no need to remove the chrome surround or the selector indicator plug.
Just pull up the front of the gear cover and slide forward and it will move far enough to give good access.

I cant even halfway lift out the command knob unit because the flat white wire is so tight…and looking closely the flat white wire looks like it runs from the unit down through that hole and backwards under the cupholder area and not towards the gear shifter almost as if the center console was lifted at some point and it got caught under it. Now I’m stumped.

AM1 says:

No need to use brute forcee when removing the outer ring. there are 4 clips. just push them in with a knive or a sharp screwdriver and the ring can be pulled up and removed.
