thanks for sharing this knowledge.

OdinAF says:

If you are working on a Mercedes you are using the wrong tools, they need
to be Metric and not US Standard, there is a size difference.

Hi Kristerpher, One way to find out is to look under your car. Look for
your part number located on the transmission housing. Next to your part
number will be your transmission model number. If it is 722.6xx then the
transmission may be the same. It is always recommended to take your car to
a licensed Mercedes-Benz mechanic to get the most accurate advice.

Kristerpher Smith says:

Great Videos!!! Might this be the same for a w211 e320?

Hi Xcmskim4, They are the Sumitomo HTR Z II.

Hi Klayton Almeida, The procedure is different for the 7G transmission.

Great vid, thank-you for sharing

leo de bernardo says:

Really appreciate your sharing. Thank you very much

Klayton Almeida says:

Dear SkipArtPictures, Thanks a lot for yotur help! This transmission is the
7Gtronic or 5Gtronic? if this is the 5gtronic, the procedure on the 7G is
the same? Thanks in advance

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Stchman, Mercedes uses a universal dipstick instead of a dipstick that
is tailor made for every car. Because some tubes may vary in length the
dipstick has to be long enough to fit each tube which means that it will
usually be longer than the tube itself. If left in the fill tube, the
dipstick would stick out and not create a tight seal, increasing the chance
for dirt to get into the transmission.

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Scmskim4, FUCHS TITAN 4134 is rated as OEM and works really well, but it
is always advised to use the best transmission fluid for your car.

xcmskim4 says:

what tires do you use on your s500? those look like performance tires

stchman says:

So with a Mercedes, you need to unlock the transmission fill tube, insert a
dipstick into the fill tube, check the fluid, and then put a new lock on
the fill tube? Why not just leave the dipstick in the fill tube?

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Vortaz57, Thank you for your appreciation of the video. The sequence is
this way because, if the front of the car is lowered all the way down while
the rear is still elevated, then there is a high risk that the front bumper
will hit the jack, trapping the jack under the bumper. Also, if either side
is lowered while the other side is left at an extreme height, then chances
for extracting the jack successfully are lowered.

Kerry Flynn says:

There can be up to 3 more quarts in the torque converter. There should be a
drain plug.

karina zepeda says:

These video are always so helpful, I was able to learn to change my
transmission fluid. Thanks

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Kerry Flynn, Are you only missing the dipstick, or are you missing the
whole tube that attaches to your transmission? If you have located your
fill tube, but can’t find the dipstick, that’s because Mercedes doesn’t
provide a transmission dipstick. You have to purchase it separately. The
newer 722.9 (7speed) transmission fill procedure is a bit different. If
you’re unsure of the procedure please seek professional help and you can
always visit mbworld.org for lots of great advice.

Aly Abidali says:

Isn’t there a torque converter on that car that needs to be flushed too?

Kerry Flynn says:

My 2010 e550 doesnt have a transmission dipstick. How do I fill in the new
oil? Im assuming there is a top or side bolt on the pan.

itsnacirema says:

Okay this might be a stupid question and whatever to the backlash my buddy
just got a 1994 Mercedes Benz S 500 and I’ve watched a couple of your
videos and I must say Thanks but will this stuff that I’ve watched work in
his Mercedes because the engines kind of look different I’m not a mechanic
or anything but I’m trying to help him out and just for example I watched
you’re how to change oil and his filter isn’t like your filter. Will any of
this work for his 94?

Raul Andrade says:

Ok thank you and do you recommend Mobil 1 for a mercedes

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Barophobia, Yes, hold down the brake pedal when you’re changing the
gears.

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Itsnacirema, Your question is not stupid and we believe that no question
is stupid. Regarding the car, we only have working knowledge with the W220
S Class. It might be possible that your buddy’s 94 S500 uses the same
transmission (722.6), but we can’t say for sure. The best thing to do is
visit mbworld.org. Everyone on the forum is very nice and can help you find
an answer to your question.

Kerry Flynn says:

How many miles did the car have before you changed the tranny fluid?

Vortaz57 says:

What are the reasons to lower the vehicle in that sequence? Wickedly
awesome. Thanks.

SkipArtPictures says:

Hi Kerry Flynn, The fluid has always been changed every 25k. For your
transmission pan, you will need a special adapter to fill the transmission.
The 722.9 is different than the 722.6.

Kerry Flynn says:

I checked underneath the car and found a drain plug and fill plug on the
top of the pan.

Kerry Flynn says:

There is no tranny dipstick. I checked outline and you need a special
adapter and fill it through the drain plug….geesh. I guess I’ll be going
to the dealer for my tranny change.

mugs132 says:

Did you get a new washer with the filter you bought? Did you replace the o
ring on the fill cap or just reuse the old one?

izools says:

All I can hear is “diffriential”… “Diffriential”… brilliant 🙂 Great
video though, easily the best tutorial for Merc ATF changes I’ve been able
to find on YouTube. Thanks!

Raul Andrade says:

i love this video but did you use that titan transmission fluid container
and would you recommend mobil 1 synthetic atf
