Brake Pad & Rotor Replacement DIY | Mercedes W211 E55 AMG

This DIY shows how to replace the brake rotors and pads on an E55 AMG w211 e-class Mercedes.

In this brake job I’m using Akebono ceramic EUR983 brake pads that help minimize brake dust. The massive 8-piston calipers take 4 pads each.

The change process is much the same on other big AMG cars from this era such as the CLS55, S55, SL55, CL55, S65, CL65 and SL65.

Any issues with the meyle rotors and the ceramic pads? Looking to do the similar setup every soon but just want to know how the rotors preform. Not out of round or warping issues with the ceramic pads??

Great video. Thank you for posting. Are you required to change the rotors each time you change the pads?

Ivan Rodriguez says:

awesome video!! will be doing a service on my 05 e55. im planning on ceramic. coating my calipers. so this will be done as well.

NewShockerGuy says:

Where does one get the metal backing plate that holds the pads in? I need replacements but can't find them anywhere. I can locate the mounting pins that hold the pads in the calipers but not the rear facing metal brackets that the pins go through.

Patrick Pierre says:

you dont have to unplug the SBC pump. just jack the car up and dont touch the door handles while servicing the brakes.

Young Metro says:

Is the process the same for a 2003 SL 55 AMG ?

Is no warning light flashing becouse the disconnected SBC?

DK1LLA says:

great video but i would avoid using thread lock on those bolts as it will be a PITA when it comes to doing the pads/rotors again. A nice snug to those bolts is all it needs.

Rodolfo Munoz says:

well I just purchased a 05 e55 I'm glad I ran across this lol uncomplicate the 1st time…… my question is this there's no pistons in the calipers? so there no need to bleed the system after removal of the pads an calipers? from what I seen no but hey I'd like to ask still

Great videos!! Keep them coming. How did you know you had to disconnect that Sbc. Are you a mb tech?

Julio Razo says:

Thanks for the vid! Im about to perform this service and was wondering how long did you have to wait until the car went to "sleep" or when is the right time to disconnect the SBC?

Thanks!!!
