Best Paint Touch-up Tricks: Mercedes G55

This is one of the worst key scratches I have ever seen. This car needed to be repainted, but I thought I would give it a shot…nothing to lose. It covered …

AMMO NYC says:

Hey everyone, just wanted to reiterate a few important points that some
people are missing with this video based on their comments.
1) THIS ABSOLUTELY NEEDED TO BE REPAINTED. No question about it.
2) Why not practice on the worst possible scenario? Thats how you learn.
3) There are 100 different ways of doing this “touch-up” (not a repair). I
only did 3.
4) This touch up was EXACTLY as I described to the owner. 70% better. No
more. If 71-100% was a must…then this touch-up or “band-aid” would not
have been an option at all.
5) You are also assuming the car could be out of commission for many days
(ie…to get repainted in a bodyshop) despite its being used as a daily
limo for the client. Based on the constraints not relevant to the
educational aspect of the video…this was a “reasonable option” at the
time.

The point is, its hard to discuss all the random variables for a particular
video. Take the video for what it is on face value…20-30 mins of
experience without having to physically experience the 2 days of labor. Thx
again for watching.

I would have just claimed insurance on this.

That guy pissed someone off…

steinarne79 says:

Just a simple question: Wouldn’t it be easier for you to just go buy a
lamp? a 300watt one shouldnt be that many coins ? Just asking, since you
said it would be a good thing to use ?

Ben Dover says:

motherfuckers! why the fuck would you key a car like that?

James Brewer says:

Would of been better to just sand use rattle can base/clear then buff

frits duwel says:

Itt still looks like shit

101nagen says:

fuck man you talk way to fucking much

ibrahim alshamsi says:

its G550 not a G55

Talon276 says:

Ba**ards, I hate people who do this.

thechosendude says:

Can someone explain if (or why this isn’t) possible: Apply the bondo, skip
the touch-up paint and instead sand the bondo level, then go in and overlay
the touch-up paint ontop of the bondo, and finish by level/feather/polish
the touch-up paint into the existing paint.

I just don’t understand why you paint it before trying to knock the crown
the down – since you’re worried about the risk of exposing the bondo
underneath? Wouldn’t it just make sense to knock the crown off, then apply
the touch-up, then worry about feathering the touch-up into the paint? It
seems like this would deliver a much smoother and consistent surface that
would be less noticeable.

Hamster RU says:

I am not going to lie, this is ridiculous. Idk why anyone would say it
would take 2 days to paint, sand what you wanna sand, paint and blend like
3 hours of work TOPS the car is back on the lot that NIGHT!

Gims110 says:

Just a question from an amateur, could you prep the same way, fill with the
bondo, wet sand that, mask both sides close, spray with an aerosol factory
match paint or load your paint in an airbrush gun and get a better base
before you started the final wet sand and polish process? I would think
between the build of the bondo feather fill and a few build coats with an
air brush with a heat gun in between you could possibly get a better result
with less hours and not have to paint booth it and do the hole panel? Or
has that tried and failed. Good job by the way and good video.

Hudson Brand says:

Great job with the car. If I were the owner of a car like this I would have
to get it re painted. I find it goofy to own a car like this and not fix it
right.

lexusfan100 says:

can you do video of cleaning wheel wells area. i use meg tire cleaner and
soft long brush

mynameisray says:

Can afford G-Wagon.. Can’t afford scratch repair??
As much as I love seeing these and knowing how it’s done it just seems a
little odd.

Justinaadu says:

Am I the only one who is going to point out that this is a G550 and not a
G55?
Still, this is so sad. Some people can’t handle jealousy.

bihcardinals says:

it was beautiful for what? 22:07

Thyshallsmite says:

dunno what you charge but damn that was a ton of labor time there

Andrey Mitrofanov says:

Just a thought. Since it was keyed, it can be considered as vandalism, and
therefore the owner of this car pays a small amount and the insurance
company covers the rest of the repair costs.

richie s says:

You just don’t mess with somebody’s car like that.. Whether it’s a 90’s
ford taurus or a $120,000 Merc

Gassan Matta says:

140k car… I wouldn’t be happy with it. Don’t get me wrong Larry, it is a
great work, but this car just needs the extra portion of work. So I’d
repaint it

tubeengineer says:

What do you use on your hair?

Dino Daquin says:

You key my car, you get shot.

rumpeltiezerwash says:

Probably some crazy bitch keyed it

Jake Tompakski says:

Damn people who key others cars (Unless they are parked like douchebags)
deserve a beating for doing this! Like just cause the person is more
successful then you because he owns a AMG, doesn’t mean you gotta be a
douche and key him. Hell work harder so you can own a AMG one day!
Truthfully the only people which deserve to be keyed are the ones which
park over two spots, and people which purposefully park like 2 inches from
your car so that they hit it with their doors.

goognam goognws says:

man, you may be good at doing this, but you talk way too much. your video
is a headache to listen to.

I〈3hatersx69 says:

This guy sucks, imy sorry but that looked terrible… Next time, take more
time and do it the correct way. And honnestly, to fly this guy out to use
auto zone paint repair shit is a joke, especially on a 100000 mercedes.
Just spend the 2000$ and get it painted LOL. They probably paid this clown
twice that just to fuck it up even worse, making it look extremely cheap..
