Scotty, you are completely wrong about the engine in that 2014 CX-5. NO MAZDA SOLD IN NORTH AMERICA HAS THE SKYACTIV-X ENGINE IN IT. Mazda has never sold any car or suv of theirs in the North American market with the Skyactiv-X engine. With the exception of some diesels in the CX-5, all Mazdas in North America have the Skyactiv-G engines. Mazda is making great vehicles these days. Reliable, fuel efficient, fun to drive.
I like how he says Mazdas are better now because of their partnership with Toyota… Mazda’s skyactiv engine and 6 speed has NOTHING to do with Toyota. They have yet to share technology with the exception of the old Toyota Yaris being a mazda2 in disguise. Pretty sure that pano roof in the new Cx-50 was plucked out of the Rav4 too. Other than that, rumor is Toyota will be donating their hybrid powertrain into the cx-50 in the next year or so.

My grandpa let me take over his 2016 and I absolutely fell in love with it. Came from a 01 Corolla ( so small, no power to it) and being able to “move” when you get of the gas is freaking awesome.
Your absolutely correct, you don’t need a turbo charged car this thing is plenty fun and MOVES when you want it. I adore the transmission & absolutely love the big engine.
Mazda forums report many Skyactiv engines+transmissions over 300k with minimal issues. It's proven. Best of all, the fuel economy is amazing, with low complexity and good driving dynamics.
My 3rd gen Mazda 3 2018 2.5 has almost 60k it is amazing!!
Another reason why I think my Miata is the answer!

I bought a 2016 brand new Mazda 3 iSport. Only had 5 miles on it when I test drove it. 6 speed manual by the way. Really fun to drive!! It's fully paid off. I have around 88,000 miles on it now. No problems at all. Japanese know their stuff. Darn fine vehicle. 🙂
Mazda CX 5 automatic feels like stone age compered to the 7g + tronic . Very hard shifts.

Mazda's are also slow in acceleration.

Bought a 2021 CX-5 last year, no turbo, cumulative mpg average is 27.5 mostly in town. Road trips are usually around 33, very pleased with performance, handling, and build quality. It’s going in for an oil change next week, definitely worth taking proper care of it.
