Ed Watts says:

Well done, Mister Kilmer. I really like Wankel (By the way, it's pronounced, "VAHN-kel", not "Wang-kul") engine, having followed its development since its 1960's debut with NSU.

I also test-rode a Suzuki RE5 rotary-engined ("Wankel") back in the day. It was incredibly smooth, but it couldn't come close to the performance of my Kawasaki Z-1B.

Still, the Wankel ("VAHN-kel") engine is a fine example of "out-of-the-box" engineering thinking.

Gerald Hardy says:

Bring it baack

skip davis says:

good for mazda in persisting! i'm sure this research is NOT cheap.

Richard Smith says:

I loved the Mazda rotary engine, I bought a new RX7 and it was a fun car to drive. I always noticed at higher speeds 80+ the engine sound was like a sewing machine it was so quiet. And no vibration at all. I really hope they bring back the rotary in a twin or triple rotor, that would be AWESOME !!

AZRoger says:

Some of the videos you showed had a rotary version with the peanut rotor and triangular housing. This is supposed to be "Better". Or is it just avoiding Mazda patents? From the patents you referenced, it sounds like Mazda is sticking with triangular rotors. Can you comment on if the peanut one is better? Or did you just pick available rotary video and there wasn't any that showed the old design? Good video. Thanks.

Friebe1000 says:

Lol mazda is way beyond that and is deeply invested into plasmoid engines

Andy Man says:

i wanna see that new 1-stoke INN engine! 500cc 35kg & 120hp! now that's a game changer

Sam Sung says:

Keep it buried

Frederick Moller says:

I'm interested in the Wankel engine as battery powered vehicles have NO PLACE in my life!

boostedmaniac says:

Would love to see the rotary make a comeback. Love the RX7.

poshel naxui says:

If 1.3 liter made 350 hp, then a 2 liter would make 600 hp, and 3 liter would make 900 hp

Russell Jackman says:

I think it would be great!

Lynn Wamego says:

I have had a RX2 & RX3, they were the most fun I have ever had in a car, I swear I raced the RX3 daily, lasted for 2 years, then I sold it, because it scared the crap out of me, it developed a weird gyration in a corner at about 135, it almost sent me into a apple orcherd, I had to straighten out in the middle of the corner, and reset the drift in the corner, made it, and put it up for sale the next day….looking back I wish I would have kept it 🙂

RX7 Mazda says:

Bring back the Rotary!!!!!

Gsamwhambam says:

What if the central triangular section was held rigid and the rotor surrounded the triangular center section. It would seem that the intake and exhaust ports through the motor body would be alternately opened and closed as the rotor with intake and exhaust ports incorporate in the rotor revolved.

ILLUMINATION says:

In other words… I want one and all the problems that come with it.

david morrill says:

It needs to go amd stay in a museum
