Cory Grover says:

You didn’t mention that you should crack open the air/oil separator baffles, because water (and whatever solvent you’re using to clean) will stay in there if you don’t.

pugolka says:

you are absolutely awesome! so detailed and clear. best auto maintenance video on the web. thank you!

carranzaisra1 says:

do you have any videos for the NC models?

if not, you should, you’re great

Dexter Chinn says:

great video. when i did this on my 1990 miata, the pcv valve and grommet both cracked and the breather hose cracked. all had to be replaced. this was very helpful. maybe you’d do a video on timing belt and water pump replacement :0)

Wong Ly says:

would you be able to make a video of stripping everything in the engine bay and repainting it?

TruthStoryLies says:

Thank you

Anthony Grimaldi says:

he said you need a wrench with inch pounds. People say the wrong things once in awhile, inch pounds isn’t used nearly as commonly as foot pounds so it’s just a slip up.

thegrafixplus says:

its 72 in lbs, not ft lbs. If you do 72ftlbs you’ll destroy the threads.

Giggity Goo says:

torquing those little bolts to 72ft lbs wont cause the threads to cross?

hey great video man, wanted to axe you something, I changed my 4 spark plugs, and the 2 in the middle had oil in it, does that mean I need to change the valve cover gasket? the car shakes once in awhile for like 20 seconds and then it stops, do you think you could help me?

@m says:

You produce the best video tutorials for miata maintenance, thank you so much. PLEASE PLEASE do a water pump/timing belt replacement episode or episodes as I have yet to find any that really walk through each step as clearly and concisely as I KNOW that you would. You rock!

YEApopcornBABY says:

Is it ok to leave the spark plugs in?

LukyPEF says:

so much work for that, and than you’re painting it in light gray… well it’s your choice but I would have painted it in the cars colour oder in red. Anyway, nice video and very nice car!!! Keep it going. Greetings from, Germany

Patrick Burke says:

RTV causes more problems than it solves. Just use the gasket.

bludika says:

just for safety measure, is it okay to put a thin film of the RTV sealant around the whole perimeter of the head cylinder instead of just the corners and the grooves you’ve mentioned in the video? I just don’t want to have to risk having my valve cover leak again, it’s a easy job but just takes a long time especially for my Audi

bludika says:

you got a very good sounding voice lol, ever thought about voice acting?

TrendyKidzProduction says:

3 eco-friendly people frowned when you sprayed all the old oil out onto the pavement.

Atty117 says:

Good vid 🙂

X Gempler says:

No, this has noting to do with coolant. You probably have a leak in the coolant system. It could be a bad hose but possibly a bad radiator or radiator cap. If the radiator or the hoses have never been replaced than they should be due to age. If you want to only replace the faulty part you can rent a radiator pressure tester to help locate the source of the problem. There is another youtube video that shows how to do this on a miata, but a second gen miata, though the procedure is the same.
