If you want to learn more about your 626 or MX6 then there are plenty more
to watch. I think I have over 150 videos now. Also Mazda626net, MX6.com,
ClubProtegecom, and ProbeTalkcom are great resources to learn more. I have
the most amount of instructional videos for these cars on the planet. If
you don’t want to just drive your car but learn about how it works then
you’ve come to the right place.
Thanks again man! I keep watching, and learning from your vids…
The brand doesn’t but of course the type certainly does. You can use 75W-90
or 80W-90 for the manual transmission gearbox oil. The automatic
transmission fluid for automatic owners is much different than what manual
transmissions owners have. If you are an automatic owner do NOT use gearbox
oil in your transmission it will kill it. Consult your owners manual for
the correct specification to use.
Does the type of transmission fluid you use matter at all, to 95 Mazda 626?
Get a lower unit gear oil pump for an out board boat motor. It screws on
top the gear oil bottles. Walmart has them about 10 bucks.
I cover that starting at 17:01 in the ATX to MTX swap Part 9. 😉
On your Multimeter the symbol for the tone is the arcs and usually with the
diode setting, you could also use the ohm setting to check for continuity
but the diode setting and the tone make it “Crew Chief Proof” as we say in
Aircraft Maintenance. Also concerning adding the washer, are you good at
juggling? It appears you have the hands for it. Congrats on the fix and
hopefully you can be cruising through Florida soon.
I can’t tell you how many times djdevon helped me out…I just changed my
clutch and I never open up a transmission before thanks alot
I just like the audio tone from the multimeter because you don’t have to
look at resistence values to know when you have continuity. So it’ll work
in places where you might only be able to feel but not see like inside a
wheel well. I might have the hands for juggling but not the brain, if you
say so, I wouldn’t know reallly. I’ve never been good at it.
Nice work thinking through the need for a washer. U must take after your
father.
Yeah this video is one of my favorites. Great camera angles and
troubleshooting that washer issue was a lot of fun. If you enjoy the video
don’t forget to click the like button.
Yes that small 10mm or 12mm bolts on the outside face that are directed
inwards towards the gearbox are attached to rods that hold up gears or
brackets inside. I wouldn’t mess with those, there are quite a few on the
backside of the transmission too.
Great stuff and great quality, thanks for sharing! 🙂
What kind of oil did u put back in it? Mines came out with the clutch swap
and almost forgot to put some back in lol
He certainly taught me about doing things the right way and with quality
results.
Thanks, looking forward to learning from your other videos, keep up the
good job. I’m also reading through the topic about your car on mazda626,
that’s quite a read 🙂
I already did 🙂 BTW I’m the guy who started this topic:
mazda626.net/topic/42418-steering-column-adjustment/ I only just noticed
that you replied there 🙂 Slightly more on topic: would you happen to know
what that second screw on the gearbox is for? Above the reverse light
switch and to the left of the refill screw? I had some oil leaks on my
gearbox so decided to reseal everything and this one screw felt different,
like it was attached to something inside the gearbox. I left it alone.
Very sweet video!
Congratulations on changing your own clutch! That takes hours upon hours to
do. Hope you learned a lot from your experience. Welcome to the club. 😛
Glad my videos have helped you out in some way. Thanks for letting me know.
