Great video! How similar is this to the 3.0L engine starter replacement?
What needs to be done differently?

happywrenching says:

That little hose is part of the VAD (Variable Air Delivery) system. The
hose goes from the air box to the VIS (Variable Induction System) shutter
valve actuator. That actuator operates on vacuum pressure. If that hose is
not connected to the air box, the actuator will remain closed at all times.
You’re gas mileage will probably go down a little bit but it should not
affect how the car runs. I have no idea how to fix it though – glue maybe?

It’s a great video, I congratulate you for taking the time to teach us. I
broke my base where you insert the little hose that is in the air filter
cover. What is the use? What it does? as I can fix it?

happywrenching says:

Everyone is nervous when they first start working on their car. As you do
more and more it will become second nature. Before you know it, you’ll be
doing rebuilds in your drive way lol. The Mazda 6 and the 3 have the same
2.3L engine so the starter is in the same spot. There may be different
hoses or brackets in the way but the overall procedure should be the same.
Good luck!

good video, I feel this could help me remove the starter from my mazda 3.
I’m bit nervous, first time working on my car.

Probably one of the easier starter replacements that I have done. Check it
out.
