My 2016 Mazda 3 GT-S had only one headlamp housing on each side of the engine compartment. That's how you know it takes a Xenon/HID D4S bulb (combined high+low beam). If there were two housings, then you have separate halogen high beam and low beam bulbs.

I partially removed the plastic wheel well cover to access the bulb. Even then, was very tight without removing the wheel. Be sure to first disconnect power at the battery or by removing all fuses related to HID and H/L (headlamp, or high/low). Be sure you do this to avoid risk of fatal shock from 22K volts! They call it High Intensity Discharge for a reason.

My biggest challenge was seating the new bulb in its socket. This video shows a notch in the base of the bulb at the bottom 6 o'clock position. But on mine the notch went at the top in the 12 o'clock position. Had to do this by feel; next time I'll jack up the car & remove the wheel first.
