If you run it to a switch and use your touchscreen headunit as the camera,
will it automatically show the camera view when you flip the switch?

Rather than stripping the wire back, it’s usually easier to back probe the
connector, with your meter lead or with a paper clip of its a sealed
connector to get your voltage reading.
Nice video man. I have a Pioneer AVH8400BH in a 2005 Yukon. I have a cheap
rear cam with the 1 pos./1 neg. wire w/ video output. I have the two wires
tapped into my reverse light wires but i know I’m doing something wrong
because the rear camera does not automatically switch back to usb/dvd when
shifting out of reverse into park or drive. In park or drive I get the
black screen with “image may appear reverse” message unless I touch the
screen but the display only lasts a few seconds. I’ve left the camera off
from from the deck, so what am I doing wrong?
take off your tail light and run your wires up the hollow part of the
bumper then through the bolt holes (more than enough room). peel back the
carpet and trim around the jackstand, that will be all the wires that run
through to the front of the car! green wire is your reverse light wire,
splice it and you’ll be good! no drilling or cocking necessary! but overall
a solid video 
hey hey I have a question. my backup cam has the RCA wire and a power
cable. I tapped the red/black power cables into the reverse light and ran
the RCA to the back of the head unit.. but im confused now because how does
the radio know when the car is in reverse??? I get power to the camera but
the head unit isn’t switching to it.. the book stated when the cars in
reverse the unit will display the image.. but I missing something. the
communication between the head unit and the car so it knows when its in
reverse??? im guessing the cam only gets power when the car is in rev which
is fine. but how do I communicate the head unit to the car being in
reverse?
If you are using a setup like I did instead of a deck display, simply
splice into your reverse light wires
(green/black)=Positive….(black)=negative on a 2006 Mazda 3, I have the
Axela (same car as the 3)

Got a jvc avx-710 from 2008. I ran the “red” power wire from the camera to
the reverse wire in the tail light and the “black” wire to the tail light
negative. Ran the rca cable to the back of the head unit, but what do i
connect the purple remote wire to? Really want to do it myself cause the
shop wants $150 dollars to do it in Chicago. Thanks for the help.
if you have a volt meter test the wires at the reverse light white bulb
andfind the wire that is only giving 12 volts when you shift car into
reverse than hook up reverse wire to that
did you make sure the red wire is hooked to red and the black wires hooked
to black. the yellow rca is plugged in rcam on back of deck and purple
white wire to reverse light *wire colour may b diffrent colour depending on
deck
is rcam inturupt turned on, on the deck
if you can get a wiring diagram for your car you might be able to grab the
wire from fusebox or kick panel. if not easiest it to just run run a wire
to reverse light
