Great video, dude! I used this to help me change the pads on my 98 Mazada 626. A little different setup but close enough for me to figure it out. I’m not mechanically inclined so this helped immensely.
So, let me get this straight. First you grind off the corrosion with sand paper, then you lubricate the disc with brake grease, and lastly you place the rotor on the disc? And you said I made a mistake lol
Rotors don’t corrode, the rotor and “disk”, or disc, are the same parts, and you never apply brake grease to rotors.
You were close about the vibration though. If you turn the rotors, not sand, with a brake lathe then you will remove enough of the rotor to take care of most warpage problems.
there is one mistake, i think. after you remove a rotor, you should grind this place with a sandpaper in oder to remove corrosion, and then lubricate the grinded place with a special brake lubrication you use on the brake joint-pins, and only after that you’d place a brake rotor on the grinded and lubricated disk. If you don’t do it strong vibration may apear during braking.
Great vid! One issue tho, My 2001 tribute had a star bit socket for the caliper bolts rather than a hex key.
Sir, you made my day so much easier! Thanks for taking the time to post this video.
Thanks for the video it was nice instructional and big help.
Thanks for the posting it was a big help
When you use the C-calipers to decompress the brake pistons, don’t you need to uncap the brake fluid reservior?
Your welcome, glad to hear I could help.
Thank you for the posting. I am mechanily inclined but never had anyone show me how. Thanks again I sucessfully changed the brakes on a 04 Mazda.
