Simple DIY how to: Service or change the T-MAP (Temperature & Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor on a Ford Duratec HE or Mazda LF engine.
Dirty or faulty MAP sensors can lead to rough idle and engine tune problems. They get dirty over time along with the rest of the insides of an intake manifold, and it’s good practice to service them by just cleaning from time to time.
Or if faulty, it will need replacing.

You will need:
– T20 torx drive bit and a small ratchet handle or other compact driver suitable for small confines
– Flashlight
– Brake clean or similar plastic-safe solvent for cleaning
– Spanner to remove battery negative cable.

Does a faulty MAP sensor cause stalling everyonce in a while?
please can you what type spray you used
Can I use MAF cleaner?
If you look at your video around the time when you do up the screw, you can see there is a small vacuum hose hanging loose….
these sensors and relays, actuator, valves, you to replace those as preventive measures happy hollydays
Hi sir,I have a Toyota filder and it has problem of vibrating especially when am in traffic both in neutral and drive though it's more in drive. ..is this the problem with airflow meter? thanks
Thanks Craig. did the cleaning of the sensor improve the engine performance for you?
it didn't start immediately cause that cleaner stuff (Isopropyl Alcohol) felt cold on the Air temp sensor thus ECM is programmed not to fire up the engine until the parameters of the ATS, ECT seem logical as a fail safe design, so once the Alcohol sucked inside the engine it received the proper/expected air temp it allowed the engine to run
Hi Craig
Nice video mate.just a quick question. Screw on the sensor is rusted and rounded off a bit.any suggestions? If I had to replace the screw what dimensions would that be.
Replaced the T-Map sensor on my 2006 Focus 1.8 Duratech and the dam fixing screw sheared inside the manifold .. had to glue it in place for a temp fix .. 2 pack plactic body glue did the trick …
It seems someone at Ford really hates people trying to clean their MAP sensors. Still, be glad you don't have the old Zetec SE engine – this placement of the MAP sensor is awkward, but it's still much better than on that Zetec. To be able to get to it there, you have to remove the accessory belt and alternator. The MAP sensor is hidden behind the manifold tubes and the screws are positioned at such angle that it's just impossible to get to it any other way.
Very nice video, BTW.
Excellent videos mate u helped me so much thanks
Yeeeeesss….. Thank you. This is the videos we would like to see. This kind of information videos are actually usefull. Thank you very much!!! I already changed mine because i thought it was causing weird gear changing in the automatic transmission. At the end, it didnt.
