Good video. However, never leave fingerprints on the battery. You want a clean surface, so wipe rigourously with a soft clean cloth and install the battery without touching the surfaces. Skin oils will degrade the contact, rendering it less than optimal. Trust me, I’m an electrical engineer.

Thank you for making this easy. Took this to my mechanic & locksmith ….neither were sure how open the box in order to change the battery. My mechanic told me to take it to Mazda & I should be prepared to spend a some extra bucks.
Blessings to you for making this painless. I tried to figure it out on my own, and thought Mazda had stashed some gold or something in this fob/puzzle due to the difficulty getting into it. It was designed by Indian Jones and you helped me find the holy grail.

I own a 2008 RX-8 and the key is similar (only it has an extra button for the boot) so the process was literally the same to change my battery.
