So…..did you originally have the “self-adjusting” & then switch to the
“conventional”? They can just swap out like that? Great video btw. Good
camera work.
Is this prodedure the same for 6 cylinders as well?
Also, read where one needs to support the engine when dropping the tranny.
Did you do that?
thanks for the great video!
Understood! Thanks!
It wasn’t that automatic transmission fluid in there..I just used the clean
container to drain the Automatic Castrol Transmax Mercon 5 that is
recommended for this application. Automatic fluid can be used for Manual
Transmissions as Brian stated but this one required Castrol Transmax Mercon
5 AT.
i enjoyed it and learned something
I knew a neighbor who was making rental payments to someone who turned out
to not own the house. His family found out about it when constables came
out to his house to evict them. He showed them the receipts and they gave
him more time to move out. They ended up telling him he didn’t have to pay
those people anymore because they are not the owners of the house. That
house is still abandoned to this day. Its been about three to four years
since they left.
Thank you, Brian !
That is what is recommended by the manufacturer. Automatic trans fluid is
basically the same as manual
Hey man great video. It will help me a lot. But I was wondering if you
could put a list off everything you replaced in the comments? I figured if
I am going to replace the clutch I might as well do everything you did.
Thanks again!
cool tips bro
WOOOOOOW…ESPERO QUE DESPUES DE VER TU VIDEO,,PUEDA HACER ESO,,MUY
COMPLETO,,MUY BIEN EXPLICADO,,,GRACIAS AMIGO…UNA OBSERVACIÓN,,, PODRÍA
UNO EMPEZAR POR EL SANGRADO DEL SISTEMA PRIMERO Y SI NO FUNCIONA SEGUIR CON
EL CAMBIO DEL CLUTCH??
Can you post the torque settings for the flywheel and the pressure plate?
Sorry my bad english. I no understand a thing. Why you put oil for
automatic transmission in the change box of manual transmission ?
is this the same for a 2006 ranger 4.0?
Well my clutch is going out on my Mazda. This is going to help me a lot.
Look in my videos for Bench bleeding.
The line to the slave cylinder come out of the Master cylinder and yes, it
disconnects from both, I doubt it’s the line, it’s either the Master or the
Slave, check for any kind out brake fluid maybe dripping down the
transmission where it meets the engine, that would indicate a bad slave.
Also check the clutch pedal and follow the shaft to the master cylinder..if
you see any kind of grease or brake fluid it’s on it’s way out.I have a
video on how to bleed the air out of a master cylinder.
Yes, sorry for the delay, just been super busy..the break will work,
strange but it does the job better then grease and less messy.
Thanks for the complement “Mike B”, really appreciate it!..Hope it all goes
smooth for you & let us know.
Thanks “Ferrell787” really appreciate the compliment!
I’d personally tap the side of the pressure plate with a hammer..sounds
like the guide pins are holding it on there maybe due to rust.
My 94 Ranger–clutch seems stuck on after removing six bolts. Any tips? I
don’t want to wreck something.
the best! if I can’t do the job after this video I’ll be really surprised
Best automotive how to video I’ve ever seen. Very detailed. Thanks!
can you just replace the lines to the slave cylinder or replace the whole
thing? i recently changed the clutch and didn’t do the slave cylinder. Now
its not engaging in gear.
excellent video! thanks for posting it. I’m replacing my transmission
because it died after 327,000 miles and this really answers a lot of
questions about what I can expect. One question: the rear main seal is just
the rubber part, right? Not the metal housing, too? Oh, and couldn’t you
have knocked out the pilot bearing while you had the flywheel off? I’ll go
back and watch again to see.
Nope, never mind. I see that the pilot bearing remains attached to the
crank when you remove the flywheel. Bread it is… very weird… but I’ll
trust you
Something happened to my first reply. So I’m doing it again .I’m a retired
mechanic ( 48 yrs.) and I love seeing things like this, brings back great
memories of skinned knuckels. I was able to get hold of the dealer that did
the work and they were able to bring up the work order and it showed the
conventional clutch was installed.I’m 70 now and still can’t get enough of
this stuff’ gets in your blood. Ranger still runs great (189458
miles).Thanks again!!!
Bottom of the pedal would be the same pressure plate installed
“Conventional”, the “Self adjusting one” would be more towards the middle
and would stay that way for the life of the clutch unless a spring got
stuck.
I had this done at a Ford dealer about a year ago and now I’m worried about
which pressure plate was installed. I don’t have the work order any more so
I can’t check by part number. but it does ingage at the bottom of the
pedal. What do you think? EMAIL srw30871@gmail.com Thanks!
Thanks Duane, means alot!
Thanks alot invest!!
Anytime Jim!..post back and let us know how it went..and like always, if
you have any questions feel free to ask.
DUDE! My Favorite YouTube Video of ALL TIME! My Ranger has been parked
since May 15, 2013. Got the parts about 6 weeks ago, but I was still
afraid. Not Anymore! THANK YOU SO MUCH! (I’ll post again when it’s done!)
THANK YOU!
Great Video. Thanks for taking the time to do it. By far the best detail
and information I’ve seen in any Ranger/Mazda Clutch replacement video.
Keep it up.
