Hi Taco, Yes, I was aware disconnecting the battery cleared the codes. I
went about 10 days before the same code returned. I then replaced the lower
02 sensor too with the same results. Net, net, the car apparently needs a
new catalytic converter for about $1200 installed. Frankly this ticks me
off since the car is a highway queen and had less than 100K miles on it.
So, no more Mazda’s for me, this is my first and last Mazda. I drive around
with the check engine light on – bummer.

Just to note, your check engine light went away because you unplugged the
battery. This cleared the code, but your computer still needs to analyze
run data for a while before the code comes back. Did you ever get a repeat
on the code?
