Whoops, I meant $39.95 in my earlier post. These filters are great. They
keep twigs, leaves, road dust, etc. off of the evaporator. This is where
most a/c systems fail. The debris in there corrodes the evaporator. But
this filter prevents that. These Tributes have very cold air and even
though I have 160,000 miles on my Tribute the air is still as cold as it
originally was and the evaporator looks like new. And never had any a/c
repairs along the way, either.

Jerry Geodisk says:

The reason there was no filter in there was that the cabin filter was an
option. If you buy t he filter at a Mazda Dealer, They’ll hit you for
$339.95 for it. The same filter is available from Fram for $8.00 at most
parts stores. It’s part #CA8997.
