looking in the trunk, wtf is wrong with u remove the over flow bottle then
the rad fan and with a 6 inch extention remove the two screws in the a/c
condenser remove all coolant and hoses and its out u took a 1 hour job and
turned it into 4 hours to just remove it? Really like come on give ur head
a shake call maza and ask for a labour quote thats the time it takes and at
that a good wrench finishes in half the time quoted

So is the 02 Mazda Protege set up the same? Or is it as complicated as the
Mazda 6 here?

Mahindra Sewdass says:

i just changed mines very quick job if you know what you are doing. took
2hrs in this cold to uninstall with breaks to go warm up. Spent $45 on a
NEW radiator from cgl and put it back up in 1hr. i did not break anything
don’t see how you could if you take your time. removal of shielding, grill,
bumper cover, bumper, headlights, radiator support, ac condenser and fan
loosen up to remove radiator sandwiched in between, radiator drain plug
then removed the hoses on top and bottom easy as pie

bayviewmoore says:

OK, so the rad was punctured by the passenger side fanblade (it has 2 1/2
blades out of 5 now!!) They drove through deep water!

bayviewmoore says:

I did it in 1.5

Brian Eustice says:

you do not have to discharge the AC. You simply remove the brackets on the
passenger side for the “high” side. It is still a beast of a job. Also,
this technician / mechanic did not disconnect the battery. I would advise
doing so, especially if the vehicle is equipped with airbags.

Harrell Beverly says:

Thanks for the heads up. Alldata info wasn’t very helpful or clear on
exactly what was required or the time needed.

Steve Rob says:

Wow, I think 4 hours might be on the low side, imagine 1 grand to change a
rad !!

Adrian Wilson says:

How much for fixing the radiator? Was that the 1st. Timing belt replacement
on the escape and how many miles.
