Latin is Nelumbo for lotus! … Nymphaea is waterlily. Wider pot for more

that thing near the base is the beginning of a root mass that can be grown
into a second plant. This one still seems to be part of the original root
system, but eventually you’ll get stems branching off underwater with this.
You can start the new plant by cutting it at the base and re-planting it,
or you could just leave it and it will eventually creep out to other parts
of the pond. It’s kind of like a new point for the plant to gain nutrients
from, besides the main base. As always, great vid!
