Lotus T580 Quadcopter Very Bad Wobble

Lotus T580 Quadcopter Very Bad Wobble

This is the newest version of the Lotus T580 quadcopter and, as you can see, it wobbles about like crazy. This is with no wind. I think the gyros have been set incorrectly at the factory, and…

@rcflyinguk I didn’t know the esc’s were the same old thing, oh well. My
T580 is mothballed for now as I am having A Vertical View build me their
Mantis Heavy lifter which will have 6 rotors, and will have a fully
stabilized fully articulated camera mount. I also opted for the DJI WooKong
controller. This machine will be capable of lifting a Dslr easily, which is
what I need. I should have it soon, as it is in the testing phase now.

Teri Hanright says:

The only way to fix it is to remove the flight control board and use a
different brand. Xaircraft makes components you could use. I have a T580
and I am going to gut it. I have an older one where the esc’s overheat and
sometimes shutdown. Yours is newer, so you should be able to reuse the esc
boards. Personally I think Lotus should send out fixed boards to all the
users they sold junk to. Just search “flip of death” you will find many
unhappy customers.

@terihanright Personally I don’t think the Lotus guys know what they’re
doing. The newer ESCs are just the old ones with more capacitors soldered
on, as advised by users at RCGroups.com – there’s no new technology
involved. The motors, which is the only part they ever knew how to make,
are the best bits, and the frame isn’t so bad, so if you keep those and get
your own ESCs and say a DJI Naza it should be pretty cool.
