Ye i totally agree, but its definatley a good idea, customers could source
the donor parts and Racecarsonly could provide all the parts for the
install, sure worth a look, I for one would be interested

sweet video

Cooper Duncan says:

Fuck your civic this isn’t a dick measuring contest. It’s and awesome
project and well done at that. Everybody and their dog has a damn turbo
civic anyways. Geez just respect the work put in. And about the red
suits… most mechanics wear them who cares what color. go fuck yourself.

RaceCarsOnly says:

Thanks for your comment 🙂 We kept OEM drive shafts for now , Lotus is a
light car (900 kg =1985 lbs ) so it shouldn’t be a problem. Not only gear
cables but the gear selector mechanism had been modified too. We reduced a
throw by changing the linkages length, added new mounting bracket to
increase overall stiffness. OEM end links were replaced with solid alloy
joints.

Alex Garcia says:

do you know about how much it would be to have someone install this into
this car? Thanks and epic car 🙂

es-mi-ah-norch.

wd1000 says:

I don’t like how you torque heads. You should not go from 0 to full torque
on 1 bolt. What do you think happens to the head gasket (and aluminum head)
when you put 3/4 turn on 1 bolt with the rest much looser??? Luckily my
engine is safely tucked in the back of my Elise but I pity the owner of the
one you’re building.

joe A says:

that looks like a celica GTS engine =D

RaceCarsOnly says:

@gnolhsobners Just give us a call or email when you ready 🙂

Dave Shirazi says:

what is the redline at right now?

speny46 says:

truely a great bit of engineering, have you ever thought of manufacturing a
kit to sell to customers???

RaceCarsOnly says:

@centducktape Thanks! Our site just has been updated with an article
screens from “Ignition” magazine. Check it out…

This would be a nice engine swap for my Toyota MR2 AW11 =) I have the 20V
BT vesion in it now but this looks like a future swap to have in mind.

speny46 says:

i think its an amazing conversion, what drive shafts do you use??? how did
you modify the gear cables???

arriviste2020 says:

They need to address their method of putting an engine together. Not very
impressive at all. Is the guy using the torque a first year apprentice?

eclipsegsx765 says:

Don’t the Elise have the Toyota Celica engine in it for America spec? I
like In America wondering if it would be easy to turbo one.

David Gordon says:

To make a kit you need to really research the car and its platform…
Anybody that would buy a car worth +41 MSRP and fool around with it…
without knowing what there doing is crazy… plus your insurance company
will drop you too 8) good luck… Sorry guys, looks like your doing some
fun stuff…. however, kits take a lot time and money to produce…

HuhnK0t says:

love the open wastegate 😀

agnostos1000 says:

I LOVE THIS CAR, I freaking love it! Can you tell me, is there a way you
fit a bigger engine in there, like the one the evora has?

hydrobionik says:

thanks a lot!!!please more!!!

cfb36 says:

hope u didn’t use the shitty c60 tranny, that thing looks like it would
shear the gears the first wot pull u make lol

GrenEggz says:

Torquing down those head studs scared me. I stripped my freshly built block
on the last head stud. 🙁

maxgt500 says:

@RaceCarsOnly hell yes!

RaceCarsOnly says:

Thanks a lot! It wasn’t really difficult project but definitely interesting
one. We wanted to make it OEM looking. It took as several months but we
weren’t working on it full time. You are right we built our own
polyurethane engine mounts.

speny46 says:

WOW!!!! what a Awesome job. is it a difficult conversion???did you make
your own engine mount?

gnolhsobners says:

I will be buying a lotus elise within a few years and am def gonna get mine
300+ horsepower. Ive only found a few shops in the US that mod them, you
guys look like pro. I def think you should put together some packages sort
of like secant does, modding the existing engine., the secant stage 1 is
20,000 dollars though and is way overpriced for not improving performance
much.

jobedd says:

why all the smoke?

RaceCarsOnly says:

It’s probably a good idea. but again, any project is good as good the
install. To have a kit is just a half of the story… we have to think
about it 😉 Anyone interested? 😀

RaceCarsOnly says:

Don’t forget to check it out: Lotus dyno and Lotus on the track!!!

David Gordon says:

Hi, Lotus owner…. The big issues to me is the transmission…. I can buy
blowers that put +200 HP the engine mods are straight forward however….
to get above +300 without major work to the tranny is dangerous…. unless
you like pulling the clam and spending thousands on re builds? Otherwise
anything above +260-300 is just show… or dangerous… What r your
thoughts… am I correct?
