Tech Tip: SP-140T Troubleshooting

Sometimes, bad welds can come from incorrect machine set up. Dan Klingman goes over some common mistakes that can lead to poor weld quality and tells you how to correct them. Though this demo is done on the SP-140T wire feed welder, it can apply to several other portable MIG machines. I have a lincoln 125 hd wire feed welder that doesn't weld in the A, B, C power selection but it does in D position. Only a small spark comes from A, B, C. It was working well. I looked for any loose cable connections and every looks ok. What I can do next. JOSE

I used my Lincoln 140 for the first time today. After my first weld the spool feeder got stuck. I gave the trigger a few pumps and the POOF! A puff of black smoke came out the back and now it wont work. What happened?

Lincoln makes good equipment that's what I learned on how to weld in school that was 20 years ago I use miller now that's because my work supplies it but Lincoln is A+ equipment

I have a Weld-Pak 140 HD that runs but won't feed wire. I have checked all the connections and they seem tight. I have only used this welder 3 times. There shouldn't be a problem with this little use. I is kept under a blanket when not used. Anyone have any ideas?
