Replace Alternator in 2002 Lincoln Navigator DIY & 1/2″ breaker bar review.

Replace Alternator in 2002 Lincoln Navigator DIY & 1/2″ breaker bar review.

Replacing failed alternator on 2002 Lincoln Navigator. Probably the same as any 1998-2002 Ford or Lincoln vehicle with the 5.4 Intec DOHC engine. Breaker bar review at 20:24
A local repair shop estimate for this job was $379.42 plus tax on a $199.99 alternator ($15.99). A new alternator from a local auto parts store was $155.99 plus tax ($12.48). Savings: ~$227 Time invested: 8 hours (first one failed, had to renew lifetime warranty, which is the install you see here, could be as little as 4 for you if your first one goes, or as much as 8,12,16 if they keep failing. YMMV) Pay rate to pay myself to do car repairs: $28.36 per hour.
