U R A LIFESAVER!!!
sorry for the n00b question, it may be obvious once I start doing it, but how do you rotate the cams? r u just rotating the crankshaft pulley by hand? I'm buying a 2004 TC with bad lifters on the d side from what it sounds. Is there any damage that could come of this from driving it for a bit? The snapping down method to release the follower wasn't really explained, and I can't really see what was going on.

I found this comment helpful from a XChief1320 on corral.net.
"To replace the lash adjusters is simple,no special tools needed really..

Bring that cylinder to top dead so the follower is on the base circle, then"now it gets tough to explain" take a large srew driver and stick the tip"of the screwdriver" in the follower"there is a space where the roller meets the follower body" and just pop the follower off the valve"use the cam as ur leverage point..

then just pull the adjuster out and replace it,to reinstall the follower just stick it on the valve "it will not go on the adjuster pivot point without reversing the proceedure i just talked about"

no nned to compress the spring at all,it is real easy to demonstrate but hard as hell to explain..it should be self explanatory when u look at it.

hope this helps..

I'm trying to make sense of it. Is there a reason why u didnt replace the lifters in order? was the third down just closer to TDC when rotating?
I also found this video on youtube "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbqKWzhpsHQ" is it basically the same method? It's way easier to see.

I'm wondering if this will be the same for me. I have a '00 Mustang GT 4.6 V8. Aren't the block and heads basically the same? I have a tapping sound at low rpm, mostly around 1,500rpm at low or medium throttle. I'm assuming it's a lifter. Would love an opinion, thanks!

Dear supportday.com,

Nice video – Thanks.
I want to do the same job on my Grand Marquis.
On the Grand Marquis the driver's side valve cover is similar to yours
but the passengers side looks like it will be very difficult to get off.
How did you get the valve cover off on the passengers side? Was it a
lot harder?
