I HAVE A 98 EXPEDITION XLT and I was driving down the highway and took off ramp and got to stop sign stopped then nothing no forward or reverse. Nothing in four high and two wheel but four low worked and now it stays in four low no matter what I have the switch in. Is it the motor have checked fuses and all are good.

i have an 07 ranger 4.0l when i switch it into 4wd it engages but after a few seconds it stops working and i hear clicking/grinding noise from transfer case, is it the shift motor?
you will have to convert everything over to a adjustable bag system or you will have to go to a coilover set up swapping out the entire air bag system.

You may want to check the linkage to see if anything has frozen up or broke.

Yesterday I had the battery tray out an unplugged the one vacuum line to check an find nothing wrong so put it back together and just tried it again and the all wheel drive came one.. I tried it a few times and just that one came on not the 4h or 4l.. later that day I went back to try again and nothing again..
You may want to check the vacuum lines to see if there’s a vacuum leak anywhere in the system.
If the dash light does not come on when pressed, check the power going to the switch to see if it has power going to it. If it does, then the switch might be bad. hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
i have a 1998 navigator, the lights on the dash do not came on and there is not noise from the motor.. fuse are good. i replace the solenoids and there is vacum on the one end of both soenoids. does it sound like the case motor..

Thank you for video I have a 1999 Lincoln Navigator Im getting a binding popping sound when turning and accelerating. switch is in A4wd when put in 4 low transfer case engages but 4wd flashes then.It want disengage unless i put in neutral and turn off truck and crank back up will in neutral do u think can be shift motor (note front suspension needs control arm replaced)
There are several things that you should check. You can try looking at the transfer case shift motor to see if you are getting power to connection and you can also check to see if the switch is working correctly.

It sounds like you’re on the right track. The shift motor may have just gone bad.
