Starter spray it typically used on older vehicles with a carburetor. I’m
not sure if your Lincoln is an older model or not.
Dumb question: My Lincoln Town Car has set up for several months and I
bought a can of starter fluid spray that is supposed to be sprayed into the
air intake manifold in order to start the car. Would I remove the filter
and spray it there, or am I supposed to spray it somewhere else?
1980-1984 Town Cars use a throttle body fuel injection system. All Lincoln
Town cars after 1985 use a multipoint fuel injection system. Starter fluid
is not recommended for these engines as it can blow up the manifold. If you
spray it into the intake after the air filter, you will also coat the MAF
sensor, triggering a check engine light and causing your car to run
pooorly. Just crank the car until it starts, if it doesn’t, then replace
the fuel filter and put some fresh gas in the fuel tank.
