The windshield on my 2004 Honda Element has been cracked for years. After last winter the crack had reached half way across and I decided it was time to do something about it. It just so happens Kyle Kiss, son of Rich Kiss of Kiss auto glass, is a fan of my show. He stopped by the shop one day with his dad and I asked if they would be interested in making a video about replacing the windshield on my Element. The rest is in the video.
I know a little about replacing windshields, Rich knows a LOT. I learned quite a bit making this video. I hope you do too.

so if you want to reuse your screen whats the best stuff to clean off the old adhesive from.the back of the glass as i have a rear screen i need to remove to tackle some rust then off to the paint booth then screen back in after…????? thanks.
No mention about the windshield being a structural part of the vehicle? Should also talk about the single use primers to prevent contamination or other quality/safety issues. Cheap guys may be using some bulk container that has been in use for 6 months. Might not be using the right primer for the glass or the steel or the urethane.
I prefer thread or wires to cut the windshield out.
One round around the windshield, poke it through the glue and tie it to a pulley (not sure how to translate that…)
Then I use an electric drill to wind up the thread and the windshield is out in a matter of minutes, with no risk of damaging the paint.
Is there a way to add the weather stripping after the windshield is added? I just got mine done for really cheap and they didn't add any, and now I'm scared of getting rust.

Poor side moldings… someone should tell him to grab the top and slide them up towards the sky. And also, few installs take me an hour.

Thanks for pointing out what to look for in polyurethane, time spent on service, tools used, etc. What should one look for in the actual windshield being used (what to avoid or seek out)?
