Can you convert just the rear end and leave the front with Air Suspension?… My Mark VIII only leakes in one of the rear bags. The front never ever drops down.
Thanks. My 98 is about to be converted.
I bet this guy would’nt try to do this in a 93 Continental.
Good video but never jack this car up by the rear end housing,it’s aluminum and it could break it.Another tip if swapping in coil springs you can then use Tbird/Cougar front upper control arms. They are the same except they don’t have the connector for the ride height sensor which you don’t need anymore. The same goes for the lowers and there cheaper then the “Lincoln” control arms.Use Moog arms and end links and only use Ford bushings for the strut rods, their the only ones that last.
4 to 5 hours..? Maybe for a COMPLETE noob that knows nothing about cars.
Thanks Lou… Very helpful video!
The Lincoln Mark VIII does not have struts. It has an SLA (Short Long Arm) front suspension with integrated air spring/shock absorbers. There are no McPherson struts on the MN12/FN10 platform. It irritates me when even experienced mechanics can’t tell the difference between a strut-type and SLA suspension. The Lincoln Mark VII had struts. Thank God Ford came to their senses and put a real front suspension on the Mark VIII.
