I understand how this works completely, thanks for the comment.

Dealer wants to make the markup on the part AND the excessive labor charge.

The techs almost always get squeezed.

It’s too bad, it’s why I try to help the folks with diy tips.

Honestly go tell Lexus, I worked at a dealer and this failure was seen enough that the village idiot thought to take one apart and find out what was wrong, found something that worked and asked if he should say something, I was told to throw it away and move on. We were not permitted to do these kind of repairs, same with speaker foam failures, and the such. We can fix it but we will not get paid, and when you make 12/hr while the house eats 150/hr it is not worth opening that can of worms.

Thanks d kim, I hope this helps a lot of folks.

My Rx300 has this problem for 5 years.
Finally, I got the solution.
Every Rx300 owners who I know has this problem.
Lexus should recall all Rx300 for this problem.

Thanks, Froggy. You must be exellent engineer.
Thanks.

Excellent, congratulations!

I repair it as you did. I pushed the yellow round plastic up little pit with a knife. that’s it. it works very well

froggy says:

Wow you are fast! I know I get slowed down as I figure out lighting & camera handling & trying to do things one handed.

Still that’s amazing, did you actually replace or repair the servo or just lube it?

🙂

I had this sound for almost two years I knew it comes from this servo but I had no time to look down there and take it out. after seen this video I went to my car and take it off and fixed in less than 20 mins. I saved $350.
Thank you SO SO Much

Glad to help, thanks for watching my videos, pass it on.

Regards, Froggy

This was extremely helpful. mechanic quoted me $250 for parts and $110 for labor. followed your instructions and after 2 hours saved myself a nice chunk of change. I found taking pictures as i go and marking the positions of parts (as you mentioned) to be very helpful too.

Very welcome, thanks for viewing!

Thank you very much for the video and information I already fix my car and it’s working i fix two servo motor the one for hot/cold and the one for closing the vents saved a lot of money thanx ones again for sharing the knowledge.

froggy says:

The one I fixed controls heat/cold. There are three servos under the dash passenger side. If you pull the glove box & maybe a panel you can see them and watch them move (or not move) and listen for normal noise (or abnormal noise )

Watch all the videos & start to take apart and diagnose. Make sure you “fix” the right one.

🙂

mandocammando1 says:

Is this the same servo motor that controls the air coming out from the vents because on my is300 I have air coming out to my feet and face at the same time I can’t close the air coming to my feet.

Go to my channel Froggy’s Garage, scroll down to the Lexus bar, 4th vid to the right = install.

Search the channel if that doesn’t work.
