Hi I need some help, I fitted a new timing belt but with the tensioner at
it’s maxed out position the belt is still loose and isn’t tensioned
correctly, what would be the cause of this? The belt was loose when I
removed the old one.
sounds like a over tight belt, you should be able to twist the belt, half
way on the longest point, or have a 10mm deflection, the belt should not
sing, as you describe, consult ur repair manual.to be sure. good luck.
only special tool is the bottom ,crank pully puller, you will have to have
at least 4 years mechanical expeirence, to tackle the timing belt, best
left to a mechanic. ok.
Hi thanks for the video. I did my belt a week ago and the car now makes a
bit a whining sound similar to a super charger sound. I am pretty positive
it’s the belt being too tight. How do I tension the belt correctly so that
the belt is not too tight.
@Reman1975 it is a DOHC engine with VVT-i system plus its interference
engine so dont wait for the belt to snap or you will need new engine after
:D
Is this a non-interference engine
@jagasson1 ok good luck
Just a quick one am doing my weekend how could the belt be to tight if its
auto tension? many thanks
Now I’m confused. I thought all IS200’s had DOHC engines? In this video it
looks like it only has one cam pully…. Am I missing something?
the water pump is not ran by the timing belt on the lexus is200!!!
How did you slack the belt on cam belt if is auto tension? cheers

thank you for this great video! helped me alot!
Thanks slackened the belt a bit and the whining noise is gone. It
@El3m3nt if your changing the timing belt make sure you change the idle and
tensioner pullys, especially after 80,000 miles, so good luck, liam
can you please list the tools required? i’m more of a diy guy not a
mechanic would it be difficult job for me? sorry for awkward questions 😉
why you didn’t change water pump wich is driving by timing belt.. it will
run bad in aprox 30 000 and you will need to do the same labor again..
ok
