This is the harder of the 2 upstream sensors to replace and is the one that sits between the engine and the firewall. For the sensor on the front of the engine next to the radiator, see this video.

That looks like you removed the bank 1 sensor 1 .. bank 1 sensor 2 is under by converter next to the oil pan ..

chgotbanned says:

Both sensors are the same up front and back?

Steve Mcderbs says:

Any advice on removing a seized sensor in this location?

Great video thanks for posting-this saved me $400 at the shop. I found it easier to replace it from the top driver’s side. Unless you have enormous arms or hands you should be able to perform this service just fine from the top. Old one was 20 years old, so a small shot of penetrating oil helped tremendously to get it off. 7/8” box wrench or crescent wrench will get this off and the new one on. Thanks again for posting!

There's no way to get to this if you have man sized arms & hands…guess I'll hire a 10 year old

Good Morning, I know this an old video , hopefully I still get a response. I have a 2001 Lexus Es300. With a Code P1135. I'm told it's the front sensor .which is bank 1 sensor 1. Could you please confirm

A very good video for the V-6, bank one sensor in back of engine; Most videos do the easy 4 cylinder or bank 2 sensor in front. Anybody could do those blind folded. HOWEVER, he mentioned he'd show the wire clip-he did not. This is the biggest challenge- the wire disconnecting. The sensor is easier access. I refuse to pay $600 for a $100 part, when car only worth <$2K.

John Stout says:

I am wondering if I can do this from under the car without a lift…Thoughts?

Polo C says:

Is the location the same for Lexus Rx300 year 2000? Thanks

Damien Bell says:

Wow I did it from top driver side downward. Good job bud
