The Permatex instructions clearly state DO NOT use the cleaner adhesive on
the button, ONLY use it on the windshield. Your better off cleaning the
button with warm dish soapy water and rinsing well. Dry with a paper towel
and keep it wrapped in the paper towel until ready for adhesive. Do not
touch the face of the button again. Oils on your fingers will stop it from
sticking well.

Did this last night and so far so good. however, I did wait about 9 hrs
before I installed the mirror to the button because I went to bed as soon
as I glued the button to the windshield

Chaz Karchner says:

Peg Brown says:

thank you, I could not figure out how to get the metal button off. You
kept me from having to call for help :)

Craigslist Response says:

Awesome video, Thanks, My issue is it took a chunk (from inner layer) of
glass when it fell. Should I clean and re-attach close by or try to glue
glass to glass? Thanks again. I am in Arizona, Heat is not gonna be a
problem for next 4 to 5 months.

Lois Hajjar says:

This is the best video or instructions for this. Hardest part was removing
the metal button from the mount bracket on my ’99 Buick Century. But
finally realized, it just popped out. Also had a clear plastic piece that
remained attached to windshield which was hard to remove even with razor
blade. But, even with arthritis in both hands, it went great. Thanks.

frenchdain says:

A quick question, my mirror was attached fine, my kid pulled on my dice
hanging from the rear view mirror and the mirror seperated at the swivel
ball connecting to the base of the button, it seems like a super tight fit,
what’s the best method to reattach it?

Purity knot says:

Thanks it worked great

ruth scholzhaskell says:

Thank you so much. I didn’t even think to take that little piece first,I
was trying to put the whole mirror on.

Well-done instructional video. I’ve had to reinstall my mirror several
times on my ’04 Monte Carlo and it kept popping off. Apparently this
Permatex kit should help resolve this issue. Thanks for your help.

I have a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid, I’m having a difficult time removing the
“button”, there are two levers inside, it’s a 2-person job, but I still
can’t detach it from the mirror, any suggestions? besides going to the
dealer?

Peter McCartt says:

There is no spring clip to remove the button on my 2005 Ford Explorer rear
view mirror. Any idea on how to remove that metal “button”? I don’t want
to break it.
All of the rest of this video looks great and very helpful. I did buy the
Permatex Rearview Mirror Adhesive..
Thanks

Gene-Allen Marshall says:

This helps as I’m a jack of many trades, and a friend at church asked me if
it was odd that the mirror fell off the windshield. I knew it wasn’t, but
didn’t have the details of how they were replaced properly, and needed to
know to save her another dealership trip for her 80’s Buick.

YING GUAN says:
