I never use the black grease that comes with the pads. the Toyota white grease is better, used to lessen brake noise with the oem shims and pads. as for the increased braking and heat, I don’t think it really matters. The rotors dissipates the heat. thanks for your question, please subscribe

I have a question for you. OEM Lexus brake pads, at least for the 2006 IS and assuming the GS, comes with a white grease for the front pads, and a black grease for the rear pads. Do you presume this is just different temperatures resistances of grease assumingly because the increased braking power / heat generated on the front end?

thank you for your comment. all I can say is, yes it’s not right to hang the caliper. it’s just what I watched and learned from being apprentice from a 30+ year experienced certified technician. I guess you can say, monkey see, monkey do. FYI, the guy who put the bad comment was my “FOREMAN”, he loves to see other techs mistakes. He didn’t really like us “Used Car” technicians but I still do Toyota warranty work they give me at the time. Go figure??

Silicone paste on the guide pins are fine, It doesn’t dry out like grease and freeze up the pins. I would have wire brushes the shims and put some brake part anti seize where the pads touch them. That would make sure you never have a comeback for noise. It withstands 5000 degrees so it wont liquify and run off like grease would.
I heard those on car brake lathes suck. I know Honda says to use them to but from my understanding their techs don’t. Letting the caliper hang is bad get a bungee strap

i put up the meetings we had. check it out.

Even though you no longer work there, they’re gonna send you a write up in the mail for not doing the job right.

Now that was a funny exchange.

#1 i learned from Bailey, #2 so how much you selling the brake lathes?? #3 that’s the grease Bailey told me to use. remember?? he was the one that trained me to be a used car tech and not a Toyota Tech like you. have a nice day.

that car never came back. if it did, you would have known. you know, you always tell me I do a good job. thanks for watching. Please subscribe.

thanks Vic “THE FOREMAN” for your expertise. Please subscribe. I still like you.

This is a prime example of a poorly done brakejob and why vehicles come back making brake noise.

mustangman67408 says:

Where to start…. #1 you dont hang the caliper by the brake hose. There are hangers for this. #2 You dont turn rotors off the vehicle anymore as mandated by Toyota. All vehicles must have the rotors machined ON CAR…we have 3 working machines….#3 You used the wrong brake grease on the back of the pads and you did not properly lube the slides…we do not use silicon paste, there is a specal grease we have for this.
