Dashboard cracks on every cars and trucks now stupid cheap plastic
After you stop the crack, you can use caulking to smooth it ofver and you
can tape off the crack and you can paint when the caulking is almost dry
and it’l look better =)
Good idea however I need to decide whether i want the woodpecker holes or
the cracks on the dashboard….

I have 2003 4runner that i bought new and love. I have pampered it and only
have 102k miles. Got in it after work yesterday and have a crack across the
dashboard gauges and halfway across the whole vehicle! Went to dealer
today…all said they have never seen this ever before. I am SO upset!

This is crazy! NO ONE should accept this from Lexus. I have 2, 14 year old
Lexus’ that have spent their lives in the Florida sun. NO CRACKS. Toyota
has changed something (penny pinching?) and should be held accountable!
Exactly. Partial solution. It effectively arrests the growth of cracks. If
you dislike the idea presented in this video just let them grow. Another
option is to get a new dash at Lexus. $1,600 for a GX470 dash cover. This
video is informational, and anybody is free to use or not use what I

The A/C maintentance probably was not the cause. Google toyota or Lexus
dash cracks and you’ll find millioins of complaints. I never had anybody
touch my dashboard and it started cracking. Advice: use the technique to
arrest the cracks or they’ll totally ruin the car before you know it. H4S

Yes, it is unfortunate. I think that Lexus/Toyota indeed cut costs on all
2003+ vehicles. We expect Lexus cars to have superior quality since they
are high end, luxury vehicles. Problem: Since Lexus automobiles inherit
every aspect of their Toyota twin models, the cost-cuts made to the
non-luxurious Toyota cars, which sacrifice quality, are inherited directly
by Lexus cars. For this I think Lexus should take responsibility and assume
sub-par quality-related costs. Lexus owners expect more.

This is why ever car I buy, the first thing I do is buy a dash mat. Reduced
glare and guarantees no cracks – ever.
A very good friend has a 2004 GX470 and his cracked at the VERY same spot
as yours. Now, can you use the pin tip instead of the head so it makes a
smaller hole with the same effect? Also, how is this for a long term
solution? Will the cracks start to spread again from where the hole was
made in a different direction?
Great idea about the mat, but I dislike the way it looks. I bought the car
to enjoy its looks and comfort and i think the mat, or seat covers would
beat the entire purpose. I’d rather deal with cracks along my ownership
than see a dash may from day one. To me it’s inconceivable. Just personal
