It doesn't even fit properly on the sides by the door! What the heck. I came here after receiving mine and it's going back. For that much money, they need to cover the whole damn thing and not short it a few inches on each side.
We just installed a Coverlay in my 06 GX two weeks ago. My VIN was included in the recall but, of course, my specific vehicle was not one that was covered for replacement. (eyeroll here) So… the Coverlay. We thoroughly cleaned as the instructions directed. We tried 3 types of tape to hold sections in place while the epoxy was setting. NOTHING would stick… NOTHING. We used books for the top of the dash & rigged up some boards that went from the seat to the front of the cover to put pressure on the front of the cover to try to get it to stick. The only place that it is still stuck on is the edge above the glove box. The cut-out around the defrost vent has come completely loose. The epoxy obviously is not adequate for this particular application. At this point, even the places where it seemed to be holding well have popped loose.
Please let me know if you have the name of the exact Gorilla Glue you used so I can try that!
Recalls like this are fascinating. Who screwed the pooch? The chemists? The manufacturing? It wasn't a matter of testing (heat/sun/cold) because significant numbers didn't have problems. They didn't have to pull all the dashes, and the damage appeared in all climates, so I'm leaning towards quality control. I bought a GX 07 last year, about 10 minutes after Lexus's last efforts to make good timed out. Unfortunately I live in an area where the junk yards don't have many overseas cars, there should be intact dashes hitting the waste stream…er…junk yards.
I got one of these too for my 4Runner. Kinda wish I had seen your video before buying it. But you’re right, it’s a cheap alternative to a new or used dash.
Did not seems to read the directions carefully enough. Supposed to use painters tape to hold down the parts that stick out and put something heavy like sandbags on top and leave it for 24 hours. Mine came out almost perfect and only had to re-glue a couple edges. I hate the airbag door as it does not fit right and just makes it look ugly. I ended up putting a suede dash cover over the coverlay and a great combination. Can see the crack on the edges and covers the airbag door and will make it last much longer. Look at other installs on Youtube for detailed instructions.
Not a ringing endorsement.
That's pretty good! didn't know that existed. i was fortunate i got mine replaced on a recall.
Why didn’t you tape it down and place weighted items on it…instructions very clear
Glad I splurged for a new dash. I’d rather cry once and be done with it.
It is silly they provided silicone, need epoxy.
Love the GX470. Sad that Lexus/Toyota failed so miserably with their dash quality. Their leather is just as bad.

THANK YOU!!!!!
Are there any other websites that sell some for r33 skylines?
How is this holding up over a year later? I’m considering one myself since new dashes are so much
Random thought: some of us just might get our hands on a GX470 junk yard dash. How about walking us through removal/reassembly? Be the first! :p

I tried using this for my 4Runner and could not get it to stick.. tried everything. Sorta a rip off

Where can I purchase this for a 2007 Toyota crown?
Any product to apply to keep it from cracking
And the gorilla super glue gel works great to fix any corners that bulge.

Ditto to getting a new dash.
I called Lexus and they recalled the dashes. They replaced mine for free on 2007. I would contact them with your Vin# and see if you qualify.
