It is actually the OAT or Monoethylene Glycol antifreeze, which is RED and attacks certain metals. . The blue Ethylene Glycol is safe for “older engines”. According to Miller oils the O.A.T. antifreeze attacks yellow metals where as others have experienced all sorts of problems with it. Red is okay on modern engines. Blue is safe with Tdi engines BUT as a side note one must consider the other metals in the cooling system too.
