LR3 Hitch / Tow Receiver install (LR4, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover)

The Land Rover Hitch is really strange, but cool at the same time. Its odd shape automatically locks into LR3 and LR4 and RR Sport land rovers. Just remember to pull to the side when trying to turn the green knob.

I wish ours had the receiver. Just purchased a clean low miles LR4 HD Lux but some A hole took the receiver out and likely sold it. GRRR Guess I'm buying the bolt on one.

Hi….
My understanding is that when the tow receiver is installed it effects my reverse sensors (park assistance)….?!
I'm wondering too if the tow receiver would also effect the glass hatch on the 09 RR Sport?
….I'm having trouble removing my tow receiver (since I bought it) which is the least of my concerns UNLESS it effects my glass hatch.

Hiya I have the same car and for some reason it doesn’t click in, it seems it needs more room upwards to lock in… seems the insert is slightly long, really annoying

It took about 20 minutes for me to knock out that small pin before I was able to use small pliers to pull it out. To knock the pin out I used a combo of a center punch and a very small screwdriver. I had to place the edge of the center punch and then the screwdriver right on the edge of the little pin inside the hole. I was able to then make small taps with a hammer to slowly nudge it upward. 20 min later it poked out and I was able to grasp it with pliers and wiggle/rotate it up and out the rest of the way.

Hi, about 4 years ago you shared a video where you installed a "generic" hitch receiver to your LR3.
What made you switch to a genuine one now? I'm about to place an order for a genuine receiver
but still wondering if a (much) cheaper aftermarket alternative wouldn't really adequately perform?
Also, there are concerns regarding the genuine item itself as there are reports of them detaching
while under towing load.

I just paid $1000 for this piece of metal lol. Frickin Land Rover.

Michael Casey says:

Thank you for this. Just about to install mine and you saved me a ton time with this. Thx.

Gerard Fabian Alvarez says:

Both of my keys only go 1/4 into the lock so I can't turn it. Ever had that happened? Maybe there is something stuck in there. Im pissed because I bought it used from someone at $250 and I didn't know enough about them to know that you should not be able to remove the key until it is installed correct?
