Well, in this episode we replace our almost brand new aftermarket oil pump from FAI with a new OEM Ford pump because of low oil pressure. This video is a step-by-step DIY instruction for this job but please use it at your own risk. The video also shows in detail how to replace a camshaft seal ring and how to remove the starter motor and alternator.

Woo! 3,000 Euro saved in labour from a dealer not to mention an engine if you didn't change the pump. Vera and Christian make a good team.
I have to ask if you could measure the clearances in the bad oil pump. Sadly there is many aspects to manufacturing and some know what they are doing and those who think they know what they are doing. It is costly to find out.

I tried after market WP for my LR4 but no lucky i decided to buy factory WP as well the plastic crossover part under the manifold,btw Chris you did excellent job.

I am amazed at the time you spend fixing the LR. At some point it might be better to get rid of this flaky diesel and convert to an EV. Gets rid of a few thousand problematic parts. But then you won't be able to make these videos. Just drive around.

great video again to the both of you. and thank you for uploading videos in your spare time they all are a huge to us all Land rover owners myself included. would it make sense in saying when ever the discovery 3 is driven no matter how long for, before turning the engine off to leave the engine to idle for 1- 2 minutes to allow the oil filter housing to fill properly. so when you go to start the engine again the oil pump has a good amount of oil sitting in the oil filter housing ready to go?. i no Land Rover suggest to this after a long run with the turbo to leave the engine to idle to allow the turbo to receive oil instead of starving it when the engine is switch off straight away…sorry to go on but i have a question about changing to 5w-40 oil. did you change to this oil because your discovery 3 has a DPF and a catalyst converter fitted? that's why you say the oil you changed to is C3 being DPF and Catalyst converter? i no about it being a slightly thicker oil technically saying yes it will be better lubricating the oil galleries and everything the engine oil touches, but wouldn't that make your oil pump work slightly more than normal being a slightly heavier oil? also I'm guessing the weight of the oil originally being 5w-30 will make the oil move more quickly in colder parts of the world lowering the chances of engine damage unlike OUTBACK Discovery in Australia where a the overall weather is really hot? meaning using 5w-40 would be fine. the oil i use is a B5 which when broken down is,

B1, is rated for fuel economy Diesel
B2 is a standard performance level oil (now obsolete)
B3 High performance/extended Drain time
B4 for direct Injection diesel engine's
B5 combines B1 fuel economy with B3,B4.

my discovery 3 only has a catalytic converter, but I've done 5 oil changes with filters in 3 years and still all good.
i am very very interested in seeing how both your discovery's carry on into next year.

I'm thinking a thin piece of tin cut to the same shape as a gasket – but without a hole through the middle – might accidentally find it's way into the EGR system at some point.

When you take the alternator bracket off
It’s really easy to get to the starter wires
You should sell the crankshaft oil seal insertion tool
