My 2004 disco has 92K+ miles and no engine problems to date, other than it’s time to replace the valve, oil pan and differential gaskets but then again I just drove from Miami to Rhode Island to Miami to CA all in 3 months!
Plus I had a full load and a 525LB motorcycle mounted on MotoTote trailer-hitch-based bike carrier.
It’s the stupid window regulators & door locks that fail & cost a fortune! (Rovers are great, unless you get one assembled after Happy Hour 😉
It seals the head gasket and soon it will clog the radiator after going though a few heat cycles. Its just a band-aid over a gaping wound.
You can say that about every vehicle manufacturer..
i have a 2004 freelander.. i love the car, its overheating right now and i have a severe emotional attachment to it, and it seems like im the only one who puts any love towards this vehicle. this vehicle saved my moms life and i am forever grateful to it and its kind, it hurts to see comments that call it a bad car or similar. everytime i see a comment like that, its like going through the worry i went through when they said my mother was in an accident.
is it realy cost effective cos in my eyes its only a temporary fix? and the longer you use an engine with a damaged part it normally ends up costing lots more to repair in the long run?
I’m just going to replace my gaskets first the right way to see how long this lasts. I know these trucks don’t take long to fail but I’m thinking it has to do with the stretch bolts. I’m going with ARP studs.
I really hate that head gasket repair crap. Put some in my ’91 Range Rover, and it almost simultaneously clogged up my radiator and my heater core. Then after 1,500 Miles, I ended up having to do the gaskets anyways.
2000 landrover discovery with 185,000. 2 blown head gaskets since purchased in 05. Also replaced thermostate , waterpump , radiator, and multiple hoses. goingto try the blue devil to see if i can get another few months out of this sleek design of a no good for nothing awsome vehicle.

Why, because you actually have to stay on top of periodic maintenance? I know lots of people driving LR Discoveries with over 150+k miles and are still running strong.
