We finally installed the exterior rear box on our Land Rover Defender 110. It’s a DIY install of this aluminum box and we are very happy to have more storage on our 4×4 camper. It’s lightweight and sturdy enough for when offroad. Watch until the end to know what we managed to put inside this box.
We were disappointed when we drove all the way down to south of France to have it installed directly by the craftsman a few weeks ago. It was supposedly the easy way but didn’t work out. We didn’t want to do the work ourselves because we don’t have any workshop nor the tools to do such job. So, how did it go? Was it that horrible to do?

The box have fixed onl with sika or have nuts&bolts or weld where make the rear/bottom mounting plate? think about have mounted on antivibration rubber feet for hard terrain? Love at 95% this diy, missing (for me) only one thing to be perfect or (in my immagination) more safe/secure…
Wonderful work, very impressive
Looks great , every inch counts .
That's a really neat looking storage solution. Nice job.
Is the box not bolted in at all? Not against the side panel and not against the steel support? That box will shake loose and fall out. If you drive the Marasabit Road or down the western shore of Lake Turkana or along the old railway line through the Nubian Desert, it won't last. The use of that space is great though.
Very hard to watch the cutting. I personally didn’t like the result. I know it is DIY but the rest of the car is so well built. It’s a contrast.
Cutting this hole is painful to watch
