Land Rover APT Discovery 4 Front Guard install

Fitting instructions Land Rover APT Discovery 4 Front guard … More Info http://aptoffroad.com.au/browse-catalogue/discovery-3-4/product/300-apt-front-guard-discovery-4/category_pathway-36
Hi folks, Ben from Apt OffRoad. Today is an exciting day! The Land Rover Discovery 4 is a handsome vehicle and today we’re going to finish the front off with some visually complimentary, ultra, strong protection. In the kit you will have received this precision folded beauty.
To get it fitted we’re going to need to remove some of the plastic trim and 2 existing bolts. For this we’ll need a – Phillips head screw driver; Flat blade screw driver; T30 Torx bit, 13mm socket and ratchet. And for the install we’ll need – 6 mm alen key; 17mm spanner.
Step 1 To get started we’ll use the flat blade screw driver and remove the centre trim section first. Insert the screw driver into the slot and give the 4 retainers a ¼ of a turn so they can release themselves. Pull off the trim. Next we want to take off these little wings so we’ll grab the phillips head and remove the 3 phillips head screws. As the long screw is a part of the bumper fixing, we’ll replace it when the wing is removed. Now it’s the same story with the torx head bolt, undo it and replace it also when the wing is removed. So far so good, we should be at a point resembling this – 3 trim items removed Torx head bolts reinstalled Long phillips head screws installed. With our 13mm socket, we can remove these 2 bolts and then we’re ready to install.
Step 2 For the Land Rover Discovery 4 front guard install… Offer the front guard into place and start the 2 rear bolts we just removed. Wind them up until they just touch, we need some wriggle room to get the front sorted. With the guard roughly in place, poke the countersunk bolts into the holes and make sure they pass through the billet spacers and into the chassis of the vehicle. Holding the bolt in place, on the inside of the chassis slip on a washer and start the nyloc nut. Start both sides. A quick check, front guard in position with 4 bolts started. Now it’s time for the fit off. Starting with the front 2 bolts, slip the 17mm spanner into the chassis section and start tightening the countersunk bolts. We’re using nylocs so we don’t have to swing off the alen key, just make sure they’re nice and firm. Make sure both front bolts are nice and firm and then we can sort the rear. With the 13mm socket, nip these 2 bolts up nice and firm. These bolts have vibration proof washers so once again, they don’t have to be twisted into oblivion, just nice and firm.
Finish Now… Stand back and enjoy… 8mm thick 5083 aluminium, 12 strategically placed folds, maximum ventilation for the radiator, air conditioning and intercooler as well as easy access to the recovery hoop. As well as, 2 countersunk bolts for a flush mount with high tensile washers and nylocs. All done! Real protection, full functionality and good looks.
Wrap up I’m Ben from APT OffRoad, I’m here to help so if you have any questions, email me or call me. Thanks for your time, I look forward to seeing you out on the tracks. cheers Ben
